Show Neighbors Fight Blindness A check in the amount of $1,640 was presented iast week to the Utah Society for the Prevention of Blindness by the Boeing Good Neighbors. Neigh-bors. IN ACCEPTING the check, A. Orville Helgeson, executive execu-tive director of the Society, said the money would be used to purchase much needed office of-fice equipment for the distribution dis-tribution of its educational materials. The Boeing Good Neighbors are employees of the Boeing Aerospace Company based at Hill Air Force Base. LEON I. Hashimoto, president of the group said in presenting the check that many of their members have a special interest in sight saving projects and felt that in this way, they could express that interest in a tangible tan-gible way. Each of their members participated in a pay roll deduction plan. The Utah Society for the Prevention of Blindness is a private health agency which is completely dependent upon contributions from the public to carry out its sight conservation conser-vation efforts. Helgeson said about 150 Utahns go blind each year but half of these could have been prevented.
