Show II IftJlSsi iillLiUiii Mount Pleasant Observed the Nation's Birthday FittinglySplendid Program Pro-gram Given at the Elite Theatre. July 4th, our Nation's Birthday, Birth-day, was fittingly yet quietly observed in Mount Pleasant this year. Beginning at sunrise sun-rise salutes were fired and Old Glory was raised to the mast where she waved freely. At 10 o'clock a very interesting interest-ing and patriotic meeting was held at the Elite Theatre and the program was carried out in the order it was published in the Pyramid two weeks ago. Each one on the program did well and the audience responded re-sponded with much applause as the parts were given by the individuals. In the afternoon a children's dance was given at the Opera House for the little folks and field sports were conducted at the Church grounds. There wore also horse meets below town in which a number of the citizens participated. The day's events closed with moving pictures and a dance at the Opera House and also one at the Armory. The orchestra or-chestra that played at the Opera House, consisting of three pieces, gave a concert before be-fore the dance. Their music was high class and very much appreciated by the people. |
