This is the casualty list of the sanest Fourth of July celebration in the United States since the use of fireworks fire-works became popular. The property loss by fires directly due to powder-filled powder-filled inventions was but $0,500; trivial triv-ial when compared to the heavy damage dam-age sustained in previous years. There were fewer deaths in the celebrations this year than in any of the sixteen years that records of the tolls have been kept, with the exception excep-tion of 1809, when but three lives were lost. But in that year the number num-ber injured was reported at 1 074 or three times that of this year' ' Since 1890 tne yearly loss suffered $60,790 in 1902 to $724,515 in 1909. |
