Show SLOWNESS SAVES SANPETE TRAhV The northbound Sanpetej Valley train narrowly escaped a serious accident ac-cident last Monday while it was pass ing through the canyon about eight miles from Nephi. The engine left the tracks and when it was stopped :he pilot and part of the trucks were suspended over an en.bankmenl ibout twenty-feet high. Had it moved mov-ed a few feet farther it would have fallen overthe enbankmentand prob ably some of tne cars would have ?one with it. There were nearly forty passengers on the train. The fortunate turn of affairs wa due to the fact that the train had been flagged at the Mc.Vickers rancl )y two girls who were going to Salt Lake. The train had not fairly start ed when it encountered ice on the tracks and the engine left the rails, dad the train been running at its usual speed at. this place it wou'd inevitably have been hurled over the embankment. As it was, the passengers pass-engers experienced no great misfor-une misfor-une except that of being hauled to ,ephi in farm wagons and sleighs. Ephraim Enterprise. |
