Show New Wood on Peach Tree. The peach, in normal conditions, produces considerable new wood each -ear. An overabundance of fruit buds is formed on this new growth. Left to itself the tree will bear a large imount of small fruit and will soon become long and spindling, on account ac-count of its tendency to make upward growth. Therefore the pruning shoul-j :onsist of cutting out all of the weak ast season's growth and the m:iiu jpward growths, ar.d then cutt;;.g Hack about one-third to a half cf the remaining annual sheets. |
