Show VILLA PROCLAIMS ANGELES PRESIDENT OF MEXICO Action Would Indicate That Differences Differ-ences Between Carranza and Villa Had Not Been Settled. Niagara Falls, Ont. The Mexican delegation here received a telegram Saturday from the consul of their government at El Paso, Tex., saying that General Villa had issued a state ment addressed to the American people peo-ple saying that he had proclaimed Gen. Felipe Angeles as provisional president of Mexico. The consul added that, according to intercepted private messages at Juarez, reports of an amicable adjustment ad-justment of the differences between Carranza and Villa were not true. He also said word had reached him that Carranza was quietly sending a force of 2,000 men into the state oi Sonora with the intention of deposing depos-ing Governor Maytorena, with whom Carranza was reported to have differences. |
