Show Last Session of the (M Going Admistration The last session of the out going administration was held at the City Hall last Monday at 12 o'clock noon, January 5, 1914. Their administration administra-tion was a busy one and worthy of commendation. In making a report of the work done by the administration, Mayor James W. Anderson stated that the new Electric Light plant had been completed and a final . settlement with tha contractors and engineeis had been made. He reported that the engineers had been authorized to makefinal proof of the power the in the canyon. A complete settlement settle-ment with the Mt. Pleasant Mill & Power Co. on the purchase of the old plant. He stated that all the meters had been tested and recommended recom-mended that such meters that are inacurate be adjusted immediately and rules governing the Electrical service be enacted at an early date to accompany the electric light ordinance. or-dinance. Mr. Anderson observed that in keeping with the ordinance and proper economy and business ad ministration that it would be well to keep the Light system and other pub lie utilities out of politics for the good of the public generally. The power house should be properly cared for and surroundings be made an inviting in-viting place in keeping with the rest of the plant. He a'so made mention of the fact that the contractor had left 12,000 brick on the ground that could be purchased very reasonably and erect a suitable dwelling for the plant operator. He also observed that it was necessar to keep a strict account of all property of the different differ-ent departments , of the city. Mr. Anderson stated that at present the property of the city was stored in three or four places and rent being paid for storage. He suggested that a warehouse be made for the city property. In the observations of Mr. Anderson Ander-son he stated that the most crying need of the city at the present time is the proper supply of pure water for the water works system. He stated that the Telephone Co. had agreed to move all poles from the center of the street in the spring After a few remarks from each of the Couneilmen in appreciation for their service in behalf of the city the mantle of authority was given to the new administraticn. |
