Show Wage Scale for Females A. L. Toone, State Deputy Commissioner of Immigration Labor and Statistics was m Mount Pleasant last week investigating in-vestigating conditions that exist ex-ist in this city relative to employment em-ployment of females. It was found that there were a few who had not been receiving receiv-ing the amount for their service which they should receive according ac-cording to the wage scale. Mr. Toone was promised by all who had not complied with the scale to pay up all deficiencies from the 13 th of May to the present. Mr. Toone's first visit through . the conntry was to inform the public to comply with the law. His next trip will be to prose cute the offenders. The wage scale for females in the larger cities will be one of j the best laws eer enacted in ' their behalf wl.il 3 in country J towns it will greatly help some ; and others it will leave without employment. Eollowing is taken from the Session Laws of Utah, 1913, Chapter 63. MINIMUM WAGE SCALE FOR FEMALES An Act to establish a minimum wage for female workers, providing a " penalty for violation of the provisions pro-visions of this Act, and providing for its enforcement. ) Be it Enacted by the Legislature of the Q State of Utah: The new laws are effective on May 13, 1913, and thereafter. Section 1. Unlawful to Pay Less than Scale. SEC. 2. Certificate of apprentice ship. All regular employers of female workers shall give a certificate cer-tificate of apprenticeship for time served to all apprentices. Sec. 3. Pena'ty. Any regular employer of female workers who shall pay to any woman (female) less than the wage specified in Section 1 of this Act shall be guiky ol a misdemeanor. Sec. 4. Commissioner of Immigration, Immigra-tion, Labor and Statistics to enforce en-force Act. The commissioner of Immigration, Labor and Statistics shall have general charge of the enforcement of this Act, but violations of the same shall be prosecuted by all the city, State and county prosecuting officers in the same manner as in other cases of misdemeanor.
