Show j , . Fairview Andrew Anderson of Fairview, who has been attending the L. D. S. University and taking tpaining in wrestling, threw out a challenge aid agreed to put anyone down in a half hour; no one in Fairview ac cepted the challenge, but Zoal Whitbeck of Sterling, who was at Fairview visiting with his brother-in-law, Charles Peacock, accepted and went onto the mat. Mr. Whitbeck Whit-beck did excellent work in b: e iking the holds Mr. Anderson would take, but finally Mr. Anderson succeeded ii pinning his shoulders to the mat n twenty-one minutes. A very good wrestling match was I ul led off at the Zenith Theater on Monday night between Mr. Anderson Ander-son and Clarence Oldroyd of Fountain Foun-tain Green. The first fall was given to Mr. Anderson in twenty minutes, lh3 second fall to Mr. Oldroyd in fix minutes, and the third to Anderson Ander-son in one minute and three-quarters. After the second fall Gibbs Monson of Mt. Pleasant challenged the winner. As soon a3 the third fall was announced Mr. Anderson promptly accepted, when Mr. Mon- j son showed the white feather and a great big yellow streak down his . back. Several family and house parties were feaitTfes of the holidays, but" the skating party given by Mr. and Mrs. John L. Bench in the Eclipse pavilion was the social event of the week. About seventy-five couples were present. The evening was spent in l laying games, skating and dancing, danc-ing, refreshments were sirved. A very pleasant party was given 1 New Year's eve at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Brady. Those present pres-ent were Messrs and Mesdames Swen O. Nielson, 0. M. Sanderson, John R. Graham, JohnW. Christensen, S. D. Bills, A. U. Miner, Hans Madsen, Jesse Turpin, Hyrum DeFries, H.W. Sanderson, Win. Christensen, Mrs. Sarah E." Fowles, Mrs. Caroline Miner, Min-er, Mrs. Lottie Christenson, and the host and hostess. They played games and ate and drank the Old Year out and the New Year in. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Terry of Lark, Salt Lake county, visited relatives here last week. Bishop 0. M. Sanderson and wife of Ogden are here spending the hol-days.. hol-days.. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Watson of Provo are here visiting. Mrs. Tryphena Sidweli of Jerome, Idaho, is spending the holidays here. Miss Dorcai Allred has gone to Ogden to visit with her brother, from there she expects to go to Idaho Ida-ho to spend the rest of the winter. Born, Dec. 27th, to the wife of Sam Christensen, a son. |
