Show SPRING CITY Rv Soecial Correspondence .'...js.al Services Held Thursday For Mis. Minnie C. Neilsen Fane.al services were held Thursday afternoon in the ward chapel, for Mrs. Minnie C. Neil-sen, Neil-sen, wife of Alfred Neilsen. Floyd Draper of the ward bishopric bish-opric presided during the services. serv-ices. The opening song, "Home, Beautiful Home," was sung by the ward choir, under the direction direc-tion of Mrs. Rose Schofield. The opening prayer was offered by Joseph F. Hansen. Reid H. Allred spoke of Mrs. Neilsen as a lovely wife and a good mother. He spoke of her close association with Mr. Neilsen Neil-sen for years and having the privilege of teaching his daughters daugh-ters m school. Mr. Allred read a poem, "A Mother's Love." He said Mrs. Neilsen filled the requirements of a neighbor to the greatest degree. de-gree. She lived for her family, and she treated everyone right. He mentioned her cheerfulness and happiness in spite of her illness. ill-ness. In conclusion he read, "A Mother's Watch." A vocal duet, "Day Follows Night," was sung by Mrs. Jessie Schofield and Pishop E. B. Terry, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Virgus Osborne. ; Ward Primary President Mrs.. Eva Erickson spoke of the sweet j influence of her home, and the welcome extended to everyone. She spoke of Mrs. Neilsen's years j of labor in the ward Primary and i or her willingness to always do her share. Her suggestions were, note worthy. In her twenty one years of service in the Primary she always loved the children. Her kindness to the sick was told; also that she loved life and the world and greatly contributed her share in making it better. Speaker John T. Blain told of her devotion as a wife and affectionate af-fectionate mother. Her parents were kindly people and their friendship he had appreciated. He enjoyed the company of the deceased and her family. She had been a real neighbor. Her husband hus-band was kind to others and was dependable in his work. James W. Blain of the Stake Presidency mentioned that Mrs. Neilsen had done her share in this community. She was most orderly and neat in her home. He said, 'we should show more appreciation to others while living." liv-ing." He spoke of the Resurrection Resurrec-tion and read passages in the scriptures in relation to it. To the family he said, "We appreciate appre-ciate and love you as we the people peo-ple of this community loved your wife and mother." Mr. Draper told of her Primary work in teaching the youth of Zion, of which such leadership is needed today."- Because of her ardent ar-dent labors the, lives of these children were enriched. Her cheerfulness was outstanding at all times. The closing song, "Sister Thou Wast Mild And Lovely," was sung by the ward choir, directed by Mrs. Geneva Justesen. The benediction was offered by Burns Allred. The beautiful floral offerings were profuse. The pall bearers were: Leonard Sorensen, Burns Allred, Paul Strate, Hugh Jensen, Austin and Leroy Christofferson. Members of the Aleathea club and choir carried the many floral offerings from the building. Interment was in the City cemetery, cem-etery, under the dircetion of the Jacobs Mortuary of Mt. Pleasant. The grave was dedicated by James F. Ellis. Among the out of town people attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Christofferson o: Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. William Sorensen, Sor-ensen, Skull Valley, Utah; Mrs. June Clark, Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Neilsen, Ogden; Emil Neilsen, Neil-sen, Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Gregson Schofield, Salt Lake City. The D. U. P. Camp members held a quilting party Wednesday afternoon in the Relief Society Hall, under the direction of Captain Cap-tain Dorcus Blain. A birthday surprise party was' held Monday evening for Eugene Terry by a group of his younj frineds. The North Sanpete Stake Primary Pri-mary board held their monthly meeting at the home of Secretary Mrs. Ada Ellis. Mrs. Helen Madsen, Mad-sen, couselor, presided. Special instructions were given and discussed dis-cussed for the quarterly union meeting to be held March 4th in the South ward chapel at Mt. Pleansant for all Primary officers. Mrs. Iva Aiken gave a report on the February Primary scripture scrip-ture reading. La Var Jensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lamont Jensen, left Friday for his boot training in the U. S. Navy. He recently enlisted in the U. S. Navy. He was a senior this year at North Sanpete high school. His brother, Neldon Jensen, in the Air Corps, is stationed at Salina, Kansas. Leroy Sorensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Sorensen, and husband of Mrs. Leroy Sorensen, and Gor don Sorensen, son of Mr. Christian Chris-tian Sorensen, left last week for training in the U. S. Services. Leroy has a brother, Willard Sorensen, in Service overseas, and Gordon's brother, Louis is also in the overseas service. Mr. and Mrs. William Elmer of Hooper, Utah will soon have their fifth son in service. Lyndon Elmer El-mer leaves soon for the Navy. Three "other brothers are now in Service with one of them overseas. over-seas. A brother, Richard was killed in the European theater of war. Mrs. Sarah E. Allred, mother moth-er of Mrs. Elmer, and of this city, is at the Elmer home visiting. She will remain there for several weeks. Mrs. Mariett Kelsey has recently recent-ly been a Moroni visitor. Mr. and Mrs. James Jensen is at present visiting with children and relatives in Califronia. Several young friends of Miss Elverna Carlson enjoyed a birthday birth-day party in her honor Sunday evening. Miss Irene Smith is visiting her children in Salt Lake City. A daughter, Mrs. Nettie Wilde, will undergo an operation in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Allred spent the week end here. They are of this city, but Mr. Allred is employed em-ployed this winter in the Drager-ton, Drager-ton, Utah schools. They were accompanied ac-companied by Jheir daughter, Mrs. Dona Osborne. Mrs. Os-hnrnp Os-hnrnp has heen in California for several months where her husband, hus-band, Lt. Devon Osborne has been an instructor. At present he is attending a special school for Air Corps instructors. Lt. Keith R. Allred, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reid H. Allred is an instructor as a pilot on the B-25. He is stationed at Frederick, Oklahoma. Ok-lahoma. Mrs. Christie Beck was hostess Friday evening to the Social Service Serv-ice club members. The evening was spent in playing progressive rook with prizes won by Mrs. Virgus Osborne, Mrs. Vilate Hope, Mrs. Edith Schofiled and Mrs. Alice Strate. Mrs. Lorna Jensen, Mrs. Hazel Black and Mrs. Alice Strate were special guests. Mrs. Mary E. Acord has recently re-cently visited at Nephi at the home of her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Acord. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Allred and family spent Sunday in Moroni visiting their daughter and new born baby boy. The parents are Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Lund. The mother was formerly Miss Phyllis Allred of this city. Mrs. JeanPuzey is now visiting at Orangeville, Utah. She will visit in Salt Lake City before returning re-turning home. Mrs. Bessie Christensen Puzey, wife of Willard Puzey, now in the service of our country, has purchased pur-chased the home of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Erickson. The latter have bought the family home of Mrs. Erickson at Ephraim and expect to move there in the near future. Mrs, Maria J. B. Allred Observes 80th Birthday on February 15th February 15th marked the 80th anniversary of the birth of Mrs. Maria J. B. Allred, which was observed ob-served by a family dinner at her home. She is the daughter of Danish 1 Norwegian parents, Neils H. and Anniken Evensen L. Bouresen. Mrs. Allred is a faithful member of the L. D. S. .lurch. In her more active years she was an ardent church worker, being an early choir member, teacher in the Primary and Sunday School, ' a member of the M. I. A. and Relief Re-lief Society visiting teacher. At present her interests are genealogical genea-logical and Temple work. Early skills and activities were carding and spining, knitting and sewing of burial clothing for many. And being of a sunny disposition she has a host of friends. i Among her treasured memories is seeing and listening to the; inspired words of prominent ; chuch learders, Brigham Young, John Taylor, Wilford Woodruff, Lorenzo Snow, Joseph F. Smith, Heber J. Grant, and especially our own Elder Orson Hyde of the j early Twelve Apostles Quorum. Mrs. Allred is the wife of Alvin E. Allred deceased. She is the mother of eight children, Mrs. Joseph Meyrick and Dallin All-1 red, deceased. Living children are: Mrs. Vay Brotherson, Moroni; Mo-roni; Mrs. Jennie Brotherson, Mrs. Odessa Jensen, and Vance Allred, Spring City; Eldon Allred, Tooele and Leslie Allred, Moroni. There are 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Four grandsons are in the U. S. Service, Ivan Brotherson, Joseph V. Meyrick, in the South Pacific; Earl Allred ' and Keith Allred of the Navy, at present are home on leave. Mrs. Hilda Bertleson and Mr. and'Mrs. Rudoloh Hone left Mon day to attend the funeral services Monday in Salt Lake City of Gus-tav Gus-tav Johnson, brother of Mrs. Bertleson. Ber-tleson. Mrs. Ruth Osborne, Miss Ethel Osborne and Mr. and Mrs. Virgus Osborne were visitors Friday in Fairvievv at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gardell Osborne. Mr. and Mrs. Seid H. Allred and family were visitors Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Larsen. Mr. and Mrs. George Jensen and family were Manti visitors Saturday. Mrs. Lo See Hickman has received re-ceived word from her husband, Captain Don Rue Hickman, that he is now in Luxembourg. Mr. and Mrs. James W. Blain have received word from their son, Lyle that he is now in Luxembourg. Lux-embourg. He recently left for overseas duty. School Report During the past week there hasn't been much excitement- in our school. The wife of our Janitor, Jani-tor, Mrs. Alfred Neilsen, died. Thursday night at four o'clock Sanpete school called up to see if the eighth grade was coming up for a ball game. So Mr. All-red All-red took the eighth grade team up to Sanpete. The Sanpete team won 2-14 in favor of Sanpete. Fairview and Spring City played play-ed a game February 20th and the score was 28-11 in favor of our school. There is to be a basket ball game held Wednesday, February 21. It is the last game for the League teams and grades. . It is to be played with Sanpete.
