Show Delinquency Exaggerated Juvenile delinquency is a mat-1 tor of considerable concern to, thinking Americans who have been disturbed by frequent reports re-ports of a decline in the behavior of young people under the stress of war. While we presume that there has been some increase in juvenile juven-ile delinquency, largely due to disturbed conditions and the sudden sud-den increase of populations with resulting congestion, we doubt if there has been as great an increase in-crease as some people believe. Consequently, we are glad to report the observation of Judge Ana V. Levy of New Orleans, who says that court records there show "no increase in juvenile de-1 linquency in New Orleans since the war began. - The Judge reports conversations conversa-tions with judges in other states and says that she is convinced that "the estimated increase of 500 per cenf in juvenile delinquency delin-quency in the United States since the outbreak of war is exaggerated, exag-gerated, except in certain thickly-populated centers." |
