Show FAIRVIEW I' By Special Correspondence Dr)n Anderson Rigby Died of Wounds in France Private Don Anderson Rigby, 29, son of Mrs. Dora Rigby ot i1 auview, died Oct. 13th in France of wounds suffered in action. .i iiau(i ui t airview, he was born June 21, 1915, and was graduated grad-uated from North Sanpete high school. He was inducted into the Army in May, 1942, and was jiynea to the Aleutian Islands in June, 1943. In September he was sent to Italy. He was in the special Service force and he fought at Cassino, Anzio and in Soutiiein France. A twin brother, Private Von A. Rigby, is serving in the Air forces at Buckley Field, Colorado. Swen Ross Melgaard, son of Mayor and Mrs. fc. P. Melgaard, oi airview, has been promoted to the Army Air forces oase hospital hos-pital and is stationed at Lincoln, Nebraska. Captain Melgaard is a graduate ol the University of utan and Washington University Medical school at St. Louis, Mo. He was commissioned in June, 1942, and has been stationed at Carlisle, Pa. and Tucson, Arizona. Arizo-na. His wife, Helene Rogers Melgaard Mel-gaard and son, Billy are with nim. Miss Pearl Mae Graham, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Linden Gra-r.am, Gra-r.am, joined the ranks of the November brides when she recited re-cited vows with Technician fourth grade William Adolph riioreson, son ot Mrs. Therese Thoreson of Providence, Rhode Island. The manage took place at Ogden, Utah on Saturday, wovemuei' 4Ui. A wedding reception re-ception will be held Saturday evening at the home of the bride's parents. A wedding reception was held in the Fairview North ward chapel chap-el Saturday evening in honor of M. and Mrs. Arthur Tucker, who were recently married. About one hundred and fifty people attended at-tended the reception. The young couple received many beautiful and useful gifts. The K-O-V-O Radio Staff at Provo also entertained last Tuesday Tues-day evening at a party in their honor. They presented the young couple with a beautiful gift. I lui. and Mrs. Frank Coombs! announce the mariage of their, daughter, Miss Frances Coombs to Ensign Glen G. Ledingham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen W. ' Ledington of Salt Lake City. En-1 sign Ledington is a former student stu-dent of the University of Utah, and he also attended the Colora-no Colora-no College lor one year, and then ! attended the Columbia University. Universi-ty. He has been stationed on i the east coast. Both Mr. and Mrs. Ledington will leave Saturday morning tor the east coast. Miss Ruby Epson and Miss Lois Epson of Junction, Utah were .siiors in Fairview last week. The "North Bend" Daughters of Utah Pioneers held their regular regu-lar monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Lorna Tucker Wednesday Wednes-day evening with Vice Captain Erba l:asmussen conducting. The opening prayer was offered by Mrs. Caroline Madsen. The opening song, "Improve The Shining Moments," was sung by everyone present. A solo, "Always," "Al-ways," was sung by Miss Marell Brady, accompanied by Miss Eleen Rasmussen on the piano. Minutes of the last meeting were read by Mrs. Geneva Hansen. The lesson, "Along The Trail," i was given by Mrs. Mary Mower and discussed by the members. A history of Elizabeth Hall Bills Mower was read by a granddaughter, grand-daughter, Mrs. Lorna Tucker. A report on the lust convention of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, which was held in Salt Lake City recently, was given by Mrs. Elizabeth Eli-zabeth Anderson, who attended the convention. The closing prayer was given by Chaplain Mrs. Mary Mower. There were 15 ladies present. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Erba Rasmussen, Mrs. Florence Flor-ence Mower and Mrs. Lorna Tucker. Lt. La Rue Tucker A. M. C. is home on a 30-day leave visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Tucker. Lt. Tucker just returned home from 13 months in the South Pacific. Miss Mayciel Jensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Jensen, celebrated her 12th birthday Sunday, Sun-day, October 29th. A delicious hot dinner was served to 13 of ! her friend. The evening was spent in playing games. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Epperson Epper-son of Salt Lake City held an! open house party on October 19th in honor of their mother, Mrs. Olive Pritchett Halos birthday anniversary. Mrs. Hales son, Lt. June Pritchett and wife telephoned tele-phoned f-om Denver, Colorado to wish their mother a "Happy Birth day." Many friends and relatives rela-tives also called during the day. Mrs. Hales was a former Fair-view Fair-view resident and recently went to Salt Lake City to make her home. Mrs. Ila Jensen celebrated her birthday anniversary at her home: last Thursday. A delicious hot dinner was served to 16 relatives. The day was spent in quilting a heautiful quilt. Mr. James E. Hansen of Weiser, Idaho was a visitor in Fairview last week visiting with relatives and friends, before leaving for the Western States mission. Saturday Sat-urday evening Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Aime entertained at a hot Turkey dinner in his honor. Fifteen Fif-teen relatives were present. Mr. Hansen was a former Fairview c-sident. Mr. and Mrs. Linden Mower of Clear Creek spent last week end at Fairview and Mt. Pleasant visiting with friends and rela- UMr' and Mrs. Jack Williams and son of California spent the week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Peterson. Mr. Williams is in the U. S. Service and has been stationed with the Air Corps at Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Williams were on their way to California to spend part ot nis furlough with his mother, Mrs. j Mable Lasson Williams. |
