Show j SPRING CITY By Special Correspondence Primary children and officers of the North Sanpete Stake have responded splendidly to the call for clothing, for European children. chil-dren. Each Primary child has been asked to contribute one article Of clothing. Members of the North Sanpete Stake Primary Board met at the home of President, Presi-dent, Mrs. Elva M. Allred, sorted, boxed and labeled the clothing ready for shipment. Twenty-nine boxes were made ready for shipment. There were 706 articles of clothing in which were included: 41 Girls and chil-drens chil-drens coats, 29 Girls hoods, 4 Girls purses, 6 boys caps, 17 pairs Girls -shoes, 1 pair boys overshoes, over-shoes, 1 pair Girls overshoes.l pair Childs house shoes, 11 boys shirts, 19 shirts, 22 pairs boys trouseers, 24 suits of underwear, 1 pair leggings, 1 snow suit, 1 vest, 1 baby crib pad, 2 Jackets, 66 pairs of stockings, 18 wash cloths, 55 girls dresses, 2 pairs men shoes, 7 bovs coats. 59 sweat ers, 293 articles of baby clothing and other miscellaneous articles of wearing apparel. Mr. and Mrs. Paxman Morton and children, Beverley and Tommy Tom-my of Sunnyside, Washington, left Sunday to return to their home after a week's visit at the home of their mother, Mrs. Eva Erickson. Mrs. Erickson had been to Washington and New Mexico and returned home with the Mortons. They visited along the coast and saw many beautiful scenic places of interest. Also visiting at the home of Mrs. Erickson are Mr. and Mrs. Austin Aus-tin Erickson of Los Cruses, New Mexico. Mrs. Joseph Puzey left Saturday Satur-day for Murtaugh, Idaho, upon receiving word of the death of a granddaughter and the serious condition of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Christensen and other members mem-bers of the "Christensen family of Murtaugh. They were injured in an automobile accident in Idaho Friday. Alfred Neilsen or this city and Mrs. Florence Everet of Ephraim were married Monday in Salt Lkee City, Mrs, Russell Allred and daughter, daugh-ter, Bonnie visited over the week end at the home of her mother, Mrs. Irene Smith. Lenore Allred visited the past week at the home of Mj. and Mrs. Clare Acord at Nephi. Pvt. Francis Black is home on furlough visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Angus Black. He has been training at Fort Bliss, Texas. Tex-as. He reports next to Camp Stoneman, California. Also visiting visit-ing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Black are Mr. and Mrs. Allen Reid Black of Salt Lake City. Mr, and Mrs. Morris Bunnell and family ara on a trip to Yellowstone Yel-lowstone Park. Mrs. Evelyn Wright of Salt Lake City spent a week visiting her aunt, Mrs. Trena Black. They visited Thursday with Mrs. Anna Braby of Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Bertha Blain visited Saturday Satur-day afternoon in Ephraim. Mr. and Mrs, Osmer Beck have received word their son, Private Richard Bock, has landed safely in Germany. He is stationed thirty miles from Frankfurt, Germany. Ger-many. Mrs. Emma Jensen has returned return-ed home after visiting several weeks in Salt 'Lake City. Miss Diana Hope is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Ru-dolph Hope. Miss Hope is employed em-ployed at Salt Lake City. Neldon Jensen has returned home after being employed in Wendover for some time. Mra, Ada Ellis and daughter, Ruth have returned home after several weeks visit in California. They visited at the homo of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Elils. Bruce, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Ellis of th'? city, was set apart as Bishop of the Baldwin Park ward on August 11th. lie and his family reside at Puente, California. Cali-fornia. Seaman ljc Gordan Brady, son of Mrs. Crystal Brady, has received re-ceived his honorable discharge from the Navy. He entered the Navy July 9, 194, and trained at San Diego and Camp Parks, California. Cali-fornia. He went over seas in October 1945 an stayed on Guam until August 1946. He received his discharge in August at Camp Shoemaker, California. Mr. and Mrs. Sylven Peterson and family and Mrs. Crystal Brady and family went to Provo Saturday to attend the wedding reception of their niece, Mrs. El-roy El-roy Bezzant, formerly La Non Peterson of Fall Brook, California. Califor-nia. Visitors last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Heber Mower were Mr. and Mrs. Don H. Lar-sen Lar-sen and two children of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Larsen was formerly for-merly Miss Ila Mower; Miss Marie Ma-rie Hansen of Salt Lake City, who is training at the General Hospital Hos-pital in Salt Lake City, Mr. Ray Burnside and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Blackham and two children of Sacramento, California. Califor-nia. Mr. and Mrs. J. Lewis Jensen and daughter, Norma and Mrs. Sarah E. Rigby spent the week end in Payson visiting with their sister, Mrs. Ellis Spencer. While there a delicious chicken dinner with all the trimings was served by Mrs. Spencer's son, Sterling, in honor of Mrs. Jensen's and Mrs. Rigby's birthday anniversaries, anniver-saries, both of which came in August. A very enjoyable week end was spent. Mr. and Mrs. Floren Sorensen, New Orleans, Louisana; Mr. and Mrs. Laren Sorensen, Salt Lake City, Mrs. John R. Anderson, Salt Lake City and Mrs. Elsie Miller. Provo, visited last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Graham. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Thomas aryi three children returned last week after a ten days' trip to California. They attended a family fam-ily reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas, Pasadena. Pasa-dena. They visited Mrs. Thomas' sisters, Carol Graham, of Long Beach, and Ina Nugent, Los Angeles. An-geles. Mrs. Francis Rasmussen entertained enter-tained her club Monday evening at her home. Refreshments were served to thirteen present. The evening was spent in sewing and social chat. Mrs. Charles Allred of Ephraim is visiting this week with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Fowles. Mr. and Mrs. Maurine Fowles of Salt Lake City visited Sunday here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Fowles. Ruth Fowles of Salt Lake City spent the week end visiting here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Fowles. Mr. and Mrs. Reece Enckson and son, Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Erickson and son, Orrin attended the two air Show in Denver, Colorado, Colo-rado, August 24 and 25 Bill Burnside returned home Monday after a month in Colorado Colo-rado where he has been employed em-ployed by King & Sons Lumber Company. Darrell Stewart, Alan Anderson, Ander-son, and Theron Rigby returned Tuesday from a weeks trip. They went to Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park and into Canada. They then went to the Pacific coast where they traveled through Washington, Oregon, and California. Mrs Marion Madsen and grand daughter, Glenys Madsen, returned re-turned Thursday from a two weeks trip to Clearfield, where they visited with Mrs. Madsens daughter, Leatha and her fam- Blain Brady, son of Mr. and Mrs. Randall Brady of Salt Lake City returned home recently after af-ter visiting here with Mrs. Laura Brady and family. . Seaman lc Dermont Howell, son of Mrs. Hannah Howell, has recently received his honorable discharge from the Navy. He enlisted in the Navy m April, 1945 and entered June 8, 1945. He trained at San Diego, California. Califor-nia. He was sent overseas tc the Philipine Islands, where he served on Shore Patrol on Samai and Cateoan. Veone Garlick of Salt Lake is visiting here with her grandmother, grand-mother, Mrs. Malinda Garlick. Mr. and Mrs. Eli Sykes of Price is visiting here with their mother Mrs. Malidna Garlick. Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Christensen returned home Wednesday after a visit in Pocatello, Idaho. They visited with their children, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Christensen and new baby granddaughter. Mr. Ted E. Madsen came by plane from Washington, D. C. to attend the wedding reception of his brother, Reed and wife, the former Miss Olive Terry, and to visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merlin H. Madsen and other relatives and friends. Forty relatives rel-atives were guests at the home of his parents Sunday, August 25th and a turkey dinner was served in honor of Ted and the newly weds. Reed and dive will accompany Ted back to Washington, D. C. where Reed will attend the National Na-tional School of Photography. Mr. and Mrs. Merlin H. Madsen, Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn D. Madsen and Mr. and Mrs. Amasa Terry were Salt Lake City visitors last week. They with Mr. and Mrs. Blain M. Madsen, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Epperson and Mrs. Olive Pritchett Hales of Salt Lake City accompanied Reed and Olive Ol-ive through the Salt Lake Temple Tem-ple where they exchanged marriage mar-riage vows Wednesday, August 21st. mer W. Tanner. He has fifteen grandchildren of whom fourteen are living and three great grandchildren, grand-children, all living. A family dinner was served to forty-two present and 250 guests were served light refreshments in the afternoon. All of Mr. Tanner's children and grandchildren were except two grandchildren. Mrs. Martha Millen, Union Fort Utah and Mrs. Elsie A. Narrell of Sandy were visitors here Aug. 25 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Myron Tanner. They came to attend the party given in honor of Mr. Tanner's eightieth birthday birth-day anniversary. |
