Show FOUNTAIN GREEN I Bv Special Correspondence 1 Rains Pour Fountan Green received a ter-I ter-I rific downpour of rain Thursday and Friday, also a flood that came from both Log and Pole canyons. Farms on both East and West were badly damaged. Although in some parts of the fields the moisture was greatly appreciated, this being the first rainstorm of the season. Flower Show Sept. 4th The City Beautification and Home Garden Club are sponsoring sponsor-ing a Flower show at the Municipal Muni-cipal building Wednesday, Sept. 4th. All entries of flowers, fruits and vegetables must be in by Wednesday noon. Judges from surrounding cities will award the prizes for best exhibits. A program at 2:30 P. M. will be held in the same building. President George Anderson and Clifford Blackham of the Moroni Stake Presidency were the speakers speak-ers at Sacarment meeting Sunday. Sun-day. Aue. 25th. The Fountain Green schools will begin September 4th with Joseph R. Christiansen as principal. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Williams have received word of the drowning drown-ing of their son-in-law, Arthur B. Swain of Payson in Round Lake Sunday, Aug. 25th. Funeral services will be held Aug. 28th at Payson. Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Mikkelson and son, Jack, are visiting at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Mikkelson, before leaving for Ephraim where Mr. Mikkelson Mikkel-son has accepted the position of Coach Instructor at Snow College. Col-lege. Mrs. Phyllis Oldroyd was hostess host-ess to the Modernettes club members mem-bers Tuesday evening at her home where a delicious lunch was served. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Jonte and children of Wyoming are visiting visit-ing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George E. Coombs. Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Aagard and children of Tooele, Utah visited vis-ited Sunday with relatives. After visiting with relatives in Hazelton, Idaho for two weeks Mrs. Rena Crowther has returned home. Her daughter, Mrs. Zetell Coulsen accompanied her home. A party in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Orvin Andersin, who are leaving to make their home in Provo and aslo for Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Meellor, who are making their home for the winter in Ne- phi, Utah, took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arvard Aagard recently. A delicious luncheon was served and games were the evening's' diversion. Miss La Rue Christiansen and Miss Pauline Madsen have left to attend the L. D. S. Business College in Salt Lake City. A most delightful evening was spent at the home of Mrs. Bessie I. Cook Monday evening when she was hostess to her club members mem-bers and several special guests. Mr. Ivan Bailey and family, Ernest Bjiley and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Don Bailey of Fountain Foun-tain Green attended the Bailey reunion at Nephi Sunday, Aug. 25th. Miss Janet Crowther of Salt Lake City is spending her vacation vaca-tion with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Osmond Crowther. Mr. Dee Hansen and family of Lehi visited Sunday in Fountain Green. Mrs! Beatrice Yorgason and children and Mr. and Mrs. Nephi Lawlor are visiting in Cancouver, B. C. Mrs. G. F. Johnson reports that her daughter, Mrs. Twyla Russell who was operated on at the Madsen hospital for appendicitis, appendici-tis, is slightly improved. On Sunday, August 25th John J. Oldroyd celebrated his 81st birthday at the Payson Park at Payson, Utah. Seven children, twenty-seven grandchildren and twenty-eight great' grandchildren grandchil-dren were in attendance. Mr. Oldroyd is a prominent citien of Fountain Green, being engaged in livestock raising and agricultural pursiuts. He has lawys been active in church and civic affairs in the community. |
