Show Overcoming Superstition Thanks to the progressing intelligence in-telligence of the human race, the people of the world will not be overcome with fright when the moon goes into a total eclipse on the evening of August Aug-ust 25th. There was a time in the history his-tory of man when such a phenomenon phe-nomenon was explained as a portent of the wrath of God, with dire predictions as to the future penalty to be paid by man and mankind. Fortunately, such superstitious views have vanished among intelligent people. peo-ple. A large part of the world will see the total eclipse late this month and practically all ol North America will witness its totality. One of the encouraging features fea-tures about a study of civilization civiliza-tion is evidence of advancing intelligence. We know that an eclipse of the moon is a natural event, produced by natural causes. There is nothing mysterious, mys-terious, magical or superstitious involved. There are many fields of human hu-man thought in which ignorance, ignor-ance, superstition and prejudice continue to play their destructive destruc-tive parts. Gradually, in the process of evolution, the human race will understand the truth about these matters and, some day in the distant future, begin to promote the development of man upon the basis of intelligence intelli-gence and faith. We will not advance through fallacies kept alive by foolish and ignorant leaders. |
