Show Jubilee Days of '48 Pronounced A S iccess As Participants Get Thanks t Taking its key from Friday evening's pageant, witnessed by a capacity audience generous with its applause, Mt. Pleasant's Jubilee Days of '48 set a high mark in the town's history of July 24th celebrations. In addition to thanks tendered those who participated by Mrs. Olive Pritchett, general chairman, chair-man, special thanks were given to pageant participants by co-directors co-directors of the show: "Because we have been unable un-able personally to express our thanks to many of you who helped to make the pageant a success, we have enlisted the aid of the Pyramid to take our word of appreciation to you. We know how much effort you put forth, how much time you gave; we appreciate this and fall back on those simple old-fashioned old-fashioned words 'Thank you'. Without you there could have , been no pageant. I Sincerely, Miriam T. Neilson Louise M. Seely." Income of the show was 51,537.40, according to Ralph j Gunn, finance chairman. All j bills for expenses incurred for the two-day celebration are not in, Mr. Gunn said. Hence, it is not possible to announce the net at this time. Whatever the net is, it will be turned over to the city recreation fund, he said. Ticket sales for the pageant amounted to $643, Mr. Gunn said; refreshments, $482.84; ball game, $60.20; dance, net $16.00; fireworks, $42.44, and carnival, $292.92. As Friday's, highlight was the pageant, Saturday's was the parade which kept spectators lined from Second North to Seventh Sev-enth South on State street "oh-ing" "oh-ing" and "ahing" at the beauty of the floats. Prizewinning floats" in " the Most Artistic class .were first, "Miss Mt. Pleasant" float, constructed con-structed by the Jayeees and carrying Lucille Nelson and her two attendants, Patsy Seely and Dixie Mevrick; second, Easter float, by J. C. Penney Co. Prizewinner in the Best Illustration Illus-tration of American Way of Life class were first, Flanders Field float, by Consolidated Furniture company; second, Valentines float, by Laicos club. Awarded first prize in the class for floats not seen in the pageant were firsl', Sanpete L. D. S. hospital float, by Women's hospital committee; second, North Ward chapel float, by North' Ward. I Judges were Mr. and Mrs. John Becker of Long Beach, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Rex Cand- land of Nampa, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. John McAllister of Mt Pleasant, and Miss Lee Shibley of Tooele. |
