Show Washing Tips Do your mending before washing, wash-ing, not after it. A tiny hole is bound to become larger during washing when it receives some rather rough treatment. It's easier on the garment and on you, too, if you wash fabrics before they become too soiled. If the water in your community is hard, use a good, reliable water softener. Add the softener be- fore making suds and adding the clothing. Never soak clothes too long.
