Show I 1 ! MORONI By Special Correspendonce A dance and music festival will be given in Moroni East ward Tuesday, December 10 at S p. m. Dancing will be featured from the Gay Nineties to modern time, and includes dances of foreign countries. There will be one and a half hours of dancing and singing, with forty-two dancers in elaborate costumes and a chorus as background, and will feature vocal and violin vio-lin solos. The festival is under the direction di-rection of ward presidents, Dora Morley and Merlin Nielson; dance director, Marcella Livingston; Living-ston; music director, Dean Christensen; narrator, Joyce Christensen; costumes, Marcella Livingston, Phyllis Irons and Lucille Lu-cille Blackham; programs, Erma Cloward and Lucille Blackham; accompanists, Joyce Christensen, Christen-sen, Kathleen Anderson, Connie Larson, Shirley Little, Ludean Anderson, Marlene Morley and i Deneice Blackham. This is free to everyone. Let's all come out. Word was received last week by relatives here of the death on November 20 of Mrs. Eliza Jane Draper, 92, who died at her home in Price. She was born at Draper, January 13, 1S54, a daughter of William and Mary Ann Draper. Mrs. Draper was active in Church work and was the oldest member of Price first ward Relief Society. For many years she was a resident of a now extinct community, com-munity, Deseret Lake. While there she acted as secretary of the Relief Society and was also postmaster of the little community. commu-nity. She was a member of the Sally Ann Olson chapter of the D. U. P. Surviving her are daughters, Mrs. Maud Horsley, Mrs. Moroni A. Powell of Price, Mrs. Brigham Smith of Wellington Welling-ton and Mrs. Samuel Smith, American' Fork. Her brothers and sisters are: R. E. Draper, Salt Lake City; Alfred Draper, Moroni; Mrs. Myrum Lund of Fountain Green; Mrs. Irene Bradley, Nephi; Mrs. Olive Anderson An-derson and Mrs. Tranquilla Dye, Moroni; 24 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren ana i great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held last Monday in the Price tabernacle. taber-nacle. Those who were in attendance at-tendance from Moroni were Mrs. Lewis Blackham and Mrs. Will Anderson. . The monthly meeting of the D. U. P. was held at Rena Niel-son's Niel-son's home Friday. The lesson, "Pioneer Clothing" was given by Dorothea Olsen. Refreshments were served to twelve members. The M. H. club met at the home of Tena Gee Thursday. The afternoon was spent in quilting and sewing. Refreshments Refresh-ments were served. Mrs. Clcon Anderson was hostess last week to her two clubs. Thursday afternoon the Sr. Sorosis Club was entertained at her home. The 1947 Centennial Centen-nial theme was carried out in the program and Mrs. Lewis Blackham read from her mother's moth-er's History of Moroni and Early Settlers of Sanpete County. A luncheon was served at 5:30 to twelve members and Mrs. Rodney Rod-ney L. Anderson and Mrs. Ernest Ern-est R. Anderson of Richfield as guests. Saturday afternoon Mrs. Anderson An-derson entertained the Birthday Eight club. The guests were served a three course dinner at six o'clock. Pink chrysanthemums chrysanthe-mums was a centerpiece for the beautifully laid dinner table with matching place cards and favors. Present were Mrs. Elmo Irons. Mrs. Lloyd Blackham, Mrs. Rodney L. Anderson, Mrs. Ida Dice, Mrs. Lucy Blackham, Mrs. Lewis L. Blackham and Mrs. John L. Olsen. Mrs. Glen Dale Larson assisted the hostess in serving. Mr. and Mrs. Don Prestwich are the proud parents of a baby girl born November 15th at the Madsen hospital in Mt. Pleasant. Pleas-ant. Dr. and Mrs. Don L. McAffee made a short business trip this week to Salt Lake. Miss Louise Bailey and Miss Valear Livingston visited in I'ro-vo I'ro-vo last week with Mr. and Mrs. ! Monte Rasmussen. Mr. and Mrs. Elaine Larson of Logan are visiting relatives here over the Thanksgiving holiday. Mr. Larson is a student at the USAC. ! Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Moss of Grand Junction. Colorado, spent a few days in Salt Lake on a business trip ancl the week"nd with Mrs. Moss' parents, Mr. and Mis. Joseph II. Prestwich in Moroni. Immediately following this delightful de-lightful concert, the bazaar articles ar-ticles will be sold, and seldom has there been a bazaar with such a variety of beautiful gifts so much in demand at this Christmas season. A special invitation is extended ex-tended to the entire Stake to come and enjoy this delightful entertainment and thereby assist as-sist in this most worthy project. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Bailey and family of Midvale spent Thanksgiving Thanks-giving with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bailey and family and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Bertelson and family of Salt Lake City spent last weekend with relatives and friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Theo Jackson announce the marriage of their daughter Norma to Robert Williams Wil-liams of Nephi on October 31st at the home of the bride. The ceremony was performed by Bishop James Nielson of Mo-toi Mo-toi La :t ward. A shower was given in ti;eir honor on November Novem-ber 7lh in the East ward chapel under direction of Edna Larson. A splendid program was enjoyed after which delicious refreshments refresh-ments were served. Mrs. Ulrich Stark is at the St. Marks hospital in Salt Lake City where she is recovering from injuries received in a fall last week. She was taken to Salt Lake for medical attention where it was found her hip was broken in two places. Her many friends at home are hoping she will soon recover and soon be able to return home again. Mrs. Don Hardy was brought home from the Holy Cross hospital hos-pital where she underwent an operation and is now reported to be slowly improving . Mr. and Mrs. Morris Jensen and family have moved to Salt Lake City. They have sold their home to Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Spence. Mrs. Neldon Jacobson and son of Salt Lake City visited Saturday Satur-day with relatives here. A house warming surprise party-was enjoyed last Monday evening by the Jr. Sorosis club members and husbands at the home of Bishop and Mrs. Morgan Morg-an Lamb. The time was spent in paying games after which delicious de-licious refreshments were served. serv-ed. Mr. and Mrs. Spafford Sum-sion Sum-sion announce the approaching marriage of their daughter Betty to Edgel Oldroyd of Provo. The ceremony will be performed November 29th in Manti L. D. S. temple. Funeral services were held last Wednesday In the East ward chapel for George Huel Draper, age 45, son of the late George F. Draper and Olive Kemp Draper Dra-per of Nephi. He passed away on November 16 in Las Vegas. Nevada. Bishop James Nielson was in charge of the services. The prayers were offered by Emerson Blackham and Earl Blackham and the speakers were Vernile Jensen, Bishop Ephraim Nelson and Eishop James Nielson. Niel-son. A vocal duet "In The Garden" was sung by Doris Omen and Addie Abraham; Mrs. Leona Irons rendered a vocal vo-cal solo "Going Home"; an org an solo "O My Father" was played by Mrs. Faye Draper. The combined East and West ward choirs sang ."I'll Go Where You Want Me To Go, Dear Lord" and "Shall We Meet Beyond, the River". Interment was in Moroni cemetery cem-etery where the grave was dedicated dedi-cated by Bishop James Nielson. The Relief Society organiza tions of Moroni East and West wards held their conference in their respective wards last Sunday Sun-day where splendid programs where presented. Don't forget the big 49er Ball in the Old Bungalow, which is being sponsored by the Moroni Arc club on the evening of December De-cember 6th. All proceeds will be used for the purchasing of new fire equipment for Moroni City. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes, according to judges decisions, and also for the most clever looking beards. Everyone is invited to be there and help in this most worthwhile project. |
