Show i . Sinking The U-Boats i The safety of our supply lines across the Atlantic Ocean is of paramount importance on the eve of the Anglo-American offensive of-fensive against Nazi Europe. It is interesting to note tha' the campaign against the U-. j I boats has been highly success-j success-j ful in January , with losses of merchant ships "among the low- ' est monthly figures for the whole war." President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Churchill, in a joint statement, declare: "The German Ger-man claims should, as usual, be ignored, as they are grossly exaggerated ex-aggerated and issued purely for propaganda purposes." The statement also reports that more U-boats were destroyed in January than in December despite de-spite the limited opportunities to make such attacks. Apparently, Apparent-ly, the caution exercised by the U-boat commanders is more than equalled by the relentless pressure pres-sure of our surface forces. |
