Show 134 r aimers Turned Out For Sanpete Squirrel Baiting Farmers of Sanpete County turned out in encouragingly large numbers to bait ground squirrels with the new "10S0" bait material last weok, according ac-cording to Russell R. Keetch, County Agent. - One hundred thirty-four farmers farm-ers spent one day on their own and neighbors' farms in putting out 500 pounds of improved bait materials, he said. More baiting will be done under un-der the supervision of Lavor Hill, district supervisor of Fish and Wildlife Service, Mr. Keeteh stated. Mr. Hill will spend the next two or three weeks organizing orga-nizing farmers' groups in each community to follow up this baiting program on ground squirrels. More bait is being brought into in-to tho county Monday of this week and community supervisors super-visors will be hired from the County Rodent Funds to help in making this an effective ground squirrel control year for Sanpete San-pete county. Numbers of squirrels have really increased in the past few years. Farmers are urged to make their desires known relative to control in the different areas, Mr. Keetch declared. |
