Show Moroni D. L. Olsons Have Golden Wedding Tuesday marked the golden anniversary of the wedding of Mr and Mrs. Daniel L. Olson, who celebrated the occasion with members of their immediate imme-diate family. The day was highlighted by the fact that Mr. and Mrs. Olson were able to celebrate the occasion oc-casion in -their home, which has just been almost completely rebuilt re-built from the fire which destroyed de-stroyed it several months ago. Mr. and Mrs. Olsen were married mar-ried November 8 in the salt Lake Temple fifty years ago. Both Mr. and Mrs. Olson were born in Moroni and have spent their entire lives here. Mr. Ol son is a poultryman, sheepman and farmer. Mrs. Olson has been very active in the Primary depart- ment and Relief society ui Church! and Mr. Olson has also been prominent in church and civic affairs. . Mrs. Anna Robertson was hostess to members of the Relief Re-lief Society Board at preparation meeting last Thursday afternoon. after-noon. The meeting was held to prepare ,for the leadership meeting which was held in the East ward chapel Sunday afternoon. af-ternoon. Refreshments were served by the hostess to Mrs. Reba Anderson, An-derson, Mrs. Mella Morley, Mrs. Fayora Draper, Mrs. Katie Nelson, Nel-son, Mrs. Afton Thompson and Mrs. Leah Larsen. Mrs. Venice Anderson, class leader, was hostess to the Junior Jun-ior Girls of the West Ward in their annual Rose meeting, which took the form of an informal in-formal reception for the girls and their mothers. The program was opened with a prayer offered by Lola Mac Anderson. The class president, Sherry Carter, gave the address of welcome. Mrs. Anderson explained the vear's program and the value of the studies planned for this year, as well as complimenting the girls on their 100 percent attendance at-tendance record. This was followed by the tying ty-ing of the rose bouquet. LuJean Draper gave a short talk on the symbolism of the rose and each girl then told why she chose her particular color rose to represent repre-sent her ideals in life. Helen Croslind, class leader, received the bouquet and in turn she presented it to President Presi-dent Reva Swensen as a symbol of unity. Mrs. Swensen then recited the poem, "Joyous Junior Girl" by Carolyn E. Miner. She also spoke of the combined efforts ef-forts of the class. The program was closed with a prayer given by Connie Petersen. Peter-sen. Games were played following fol-lowing the program and Mrs. Anderson served refreshments. Members of the Junior Girls are Myrna Moss, Faun Robertson, Robert-son, LeAnna Larsen, Rheta Ol-sen, Ol-sen, Rachel McKinnon, Phyllis Anderson, Sherry Carter, Lola Mae Anderson, Connie Petersen and LuJean Draper. At the Tuesday meeting of the West Ward Relief Society a surprise gift was presented to President Dorothea Olson, who on that day was celebrating her golden wedding anniversary. The group presented a lovely floor lamp. Mrs. Myrtle Anderson An-derson made the presentation. Mrs. Lillian Sorenson gave a talk, telling of incidents in the life of Mrs. Olson and pointing out many highlights of her service to the Church. Mrs. Olson has taught in the iiuiicuy Lepdi LineiiL lor z.1 years and served for three years as counsellor in the Stake Primary Pri-mary department. At the present pres-ent time she is ward Relief Society Soci-ety president. Mrs. Sorenson stated that probably her greatest contribution contribu-tion was made among the Primary Pri-mary boys, which class she taught for many years. Mrs. Olson is the mother of nine, children. Mrs. Myrtle JJelson was hostess hos-tess to members of the Junior Sorosis club at her home last Wednesday night. Mrs. Florence Flor-ence Little presented the lesson. Mrs. Lyda Christensen was present as a special guest. After the dinner which was served by the hostess, the group played pinochle. Club members were 100 per cent in their attendance with Mrs. Denice Blackham, Mrs. Rula Lamb, Mrs. Flora Arnold-son, Arnold-son, Mrs. Dora Morley, Mrs Millie Seely, Mrs. Twyla Madsen, Mad-sen, Mrs. Marjorie Revill, Mrs. Eulala Bulow, Mrs. Ruth Christensen, Chris-tensen, Mrs. Ila Faux, Mrs. Lora Faux, Mrs. Reba Anderson, Mrs. Vawn Guymon, Mrs. Julia Sorenson Sor-enson and Mrs. Nina Tidwell being present. Ellna Nielson was hostess last Sunday afternoon at a personal shower for Connie Larson, whose marriage to Vaughn Thomas took place in the Manti Temple Thursday morning. The hostess served refreshments refresh-ments of ice cream and cake and the afternoon was spent in playing play-ing games and in informal conversation. con-versation. Kathryn Christensen, assisted by her mother, Mrs. Milo Christensen, Chris-tensen, was hostess to a group of 36 children last Friday afternoon after-noon at a "Hobo" party in the north hills near Riverside. The group enjoyed Spudnuts and soda pop and roasted marshmallows over an open fire. |
