A great improvement has been made in the appearance of the West Ward chapel during the past week, due to the fact that a large beautiful new royal blue velour curtain has been purchased pur-chased and installed there. This has been badly needed for many years and the appreciation of all is extended to Stake President Der Monte Madsen and the Bishopric. Bish-opric. Bishop Morris Jensen with Soren C. Nielson and Udell Anderson An-derson as counselors for their untiring efforts in accomplishing this most worthy undertaking. Miss Lois Gee has resigned her position as stenographer in the County Court House at Manti and is leaving Wednesday for Provo where she has employment. employ-ment. Miss Ella Bradley was the speaker at Sacrament meeting iu ooth the East and West wards last Sunday. She returned last week from the Southern States mission where she has labored as a missionary for the past 18 months. Elder Raymond Fritch of the same mission also spoke during the services at both wards. Mrs. Denice Madsen returned home from Salt Lake City where she has spent the past two months. Mrs. -Rhea Anderson entertained enter-tained the Junior Sorosis Club at her home last Wednesday evening. eve-ning. The lesson was given by Mrs. Thelma Anderson after which a delicious hot luncheon was served to 12 members. Garnell Blackham has gone to Provo where he has employment. Revius Christensen, who was accidently shot on November 1st while hunting, has been taken from the hospital to his home and is slowly improving. The East Ward Road Show The M. I. A. annual local Road Show was held Tuesday evening in both wards. The following was the program of the East ward with Carmen Blackburn and La Var Jacobson as presidents. presi-dents. Congregational singing, "America" Prayer by Bishop Morgan Lamb. A Scout ceremony cere-mony with candle lighting was given by Boy Scouts. Two chorus numbers, "Beautiful Dreamer," and "I Dream of Jeannie" was given by The Gleaner Girls. "Human Motors by the Beehive Girlsl," a play was given by the Gleaners. A vocal solo, "Old Man River" was given by Bruce Irons. A Junior play, "Let's Make Up," was given. A Scare Crow Quartet Quar-tet was given by Lois Jensen, Alice Simpson, Joyce Nielson and Althea Brotherson. A pageant by the adults, "Notable Mothers of the Scriptures," was given. The closing prayer was offered by Elder Andrew Bradley. The West Ward Road Show The annual M. I. A. Road show was held Tuesday night in the West ward chapel under the di-icciion di-icciion of Presidents G. Nielson and James Prestwich. Each class participated. The award of the evening went to the Beehive class under the direction of Sister Mae Peterson, their number being, "Snow White and The Six Imps.' The "Special Interest" class had three special numbers, a piano solo by Lvda Christensen reading bv Soren C. Nielson and the "Crocodile Song," by Jabez Faux. The Junior Girls presented a one act play, "A Friend of The Family." The Beehive class, under the direction di-rection of Mrs. Jane Blackham and Mrs. Ruth Jensen, gave "The First Thanksgiving." Valdean Ostler and Helen 01-sen, 01-sen, accompanied by Betty Jean Despain, sang "I Cum Here to Talk For Joe." Nola Jensen gave a reading "Popping Corn." The East ward will bring a special number to the West ward next Tuesday night in Mutual and the Presidency extends an invitation to all to attend. This group will give their I number next Tuesday night to the East ward M. I. A. |
