Pleas-I Pleas-I ant, Utah has served overseas 13 i months as a Pilot with a Bomb Group of P-26 Marauders which i President Roosevelt twice cited for "outstanding performance of duty in action." He has flown 55 combat missions. He is entitled to wear the blue, gold-framed Distinguished Unit ribbon the only army award worn above the righthand blouse pocket. Oldest medium bomb group in the Mediterranean, the Marauders Ma-rauders were cited for exceptional exception-al bombing accuracy on two occasions: oc-casions: the attack of March 3rd on the Ostiense rail yards in Rome and the March 11th bombing bomb-ing of main Florence rail yards. In each case the bomb pattern was so concentrated as to prevent damage to cultural objects near the argets. The citations noted that the accuracy of the Rome raid was achieved despite heavy anti-aircraft fire and that the Florence bombing involved flying "a hazardous haz-ardous over-water route under adverse weather conditions." |
