Those wearing costumes were allowed to skate at a reduced price. Prizes were also given for best costumes. Staff members joined in the fun, as shown by 1 to r, Manager Lynn Thomas, Diane Hess, Michelle Talbot, Jeff Brimley and Sheri Davis. By BERTHA L. MUIR 295-3742 Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Nichols left Sunday, Nov. 2 for a tour of the South Pacific. They will visit Pago Pago, Samoi, Bora Bora, Moorea Hua Hina and Tahiti. This is a personally planned tour which will cover five thousand miles by air travel. They will return home on Nov. 18. Mrs. Lee Lallie and Mrs. Robert Keddington returned Sunday from an eight day "Theater Tour." They traveled by plane to New York and stayed at the Conrad Hilton Hotel. They attended eight broad-way broad-way productions including plays and musicals. They visited art galleries, museums, took a bus tour over the city, a boat cruise around Manhatten Island. They visited the Statue of Liberty, Greenwich Village, the United Nations and many other places of interest. They report a wonderful trip, a gift of Bob and Lee their husbands. hus-bands. Wilford Gales was the speaker at the Golden Years Center Monday afternoon. He soke on Rock Hunting, its value as a hobby and the art of Lapidary. Many people attended the interesting lecture. lec-ture. Mrs. Ruby Layton spent the past weekend at the home of Mrs. Janet Schoenhals in Salt Lake City. She assisted Janet in entertaining at a family shower for Miss Sue Green. Sue is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Green of Centerville. She will be married to Scott Pickett son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pickett. There were 27 family members present. Glen H. Tolman, secretary-treasurer, secretary-treasurer, and Paul Boyer, president of the state Narfe organization have reproduced the annual report and minutes of the convention and mailed copies to all Narfe chapters in the state. The minutes reported all phases of the convention activity, report speeches, financial reports and awards. The Grand Opening of the North Davis Senior Citizen's Center will be celebrated Nov. 22, 1975 according to the Davis County Council on Aging. Ag-ing. The Center is located in the lower level of the North Davis County Library at 562 South 1000 East in Clearfield. This Center is for all Senior Citizens, 60 years or older residing in North Davis County. The open house will be Saturday, Nov. 22, 1975. A formal program will be presented at 3 p.m. Everyone is invited. This is a Bicentennial Bicen-tennial project. Come bring your friends. . ... Senior Citizens have been asked to help conduct an experiment in Davis County. This is to demonstrate the importance of older people in the community. For three months each one is asked to say the following each time they make a purchase, "I'm a Senior Citizen, Ci-tizen, I shop at home." Senior Citizens make up 37 and one half percent of the population of our communities. They have fixed incomes which are used for their food, clothing, and shelter. Their money is as good as anyones and is usually spent each month for their own needs. They help keep the economy going. If we band together as Senior Citizens we can help build our communities. communi-ties. A non-profit corporation is' being formed to build a new Senior Center in South Davis County. This will be a Bicentennial project. Funds will be received from the Bicentennial Bicenten-nial Fund, South Davis County, cities and county and individual contributions. More information will be published soon. Volunteers are needed to work on this project, call the county office court house in Farmington, 295-2394 extension 867-2211 or 773-7780 extension 217. The Mary Flint Call Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers will meet Friday at the home of Mrs. Annie Carr, with Captain Alice Patterson presiding. Luncheon will be served at 1 p.m. Be on time please. The November Fireside schedule has been set up as follows: the first one was held Nov. 2. The host was Bountiful Boun-tiful Utah East Stake. The Lyall Gardner family presented a program of music and the spoken word. Nov. 9 the host will be Bountiful Utah West Stake. The speaker will be Dr. Creed Haymond of Salt Lake City. On Nov. 16 the host will be Bountiful, Utah Orchard Stake. Juanita Brooke of Salt Lake City. She is a writer and will discuss the biography of vJohn Doyle Lee. She is the -author of Mountain Meadows Massacre. All firesides are held on Sunday evening at 8 p.m. at the Regional Center YSI hot line 466-5442. Mrs. Amanda Anderson, president of the Jessamine Liberary Club urges all members to attend the November Club meeting to be held at the home of Mrs. Blanche Moss on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. A good program will be presented and important matters of business are to be discussed. Wendell Illi has again won with his soccer teams. Wendell Wen-dell has given much of his time to make this project a success. It has done a great service in training the youth in the Bountiful area. This is an American Legion Project. The George R. Day Post of the American Legion have the distinct honor to place the American flags on display on national holidays. On Veterans Day it was good to see the flags flying. The new flags and holders help a great deal in this project. Friday, Nov. 14 a meeting of District II will be held in Clearfield at 8 p.m. These meetings are very important in promoting the work of the American Legion and auxiliary. au-xiliary. Bingo games, a money making project for the Legion and auxiliary of the local post will begin Friday, Nov. 21 in the Post Home. The public is invited to attend. at-tend. This is the one money making project sponsored for the various projects of the Legion and auxiliary. Time is 7:30 p.m. Free refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Edward L. Davis celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary Nov. 4, 1975. They have lived most of their married life in the Bountiful area. They have two children Marilynn Davis of Honlulu, Hawaii and Lloyd Davis of Bountiful. They have five grandchildren. Flora has been active in her church, club and musical areas. Edward Ed-ward has been a very successful suc-cessful farmer. They live at 910 South Orchard Drive where they keep a beautiful garden area. Happy Golden anniversary to Flora and Edward Ed-ward Davis. Mrs. Annona Rich of Centerville Cen-terville and Mrs. Gladys Burnham of Bountiful have returned from California. They were in Mountain View to attend the funeral service of their brother Lawrence Burnham a former Bountiful resident. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Burnham and family of San Mateo. They went by airplane and report a beautiful trip with good weather and beautiful flowers every where Before returning home they visited Mrs. Elsie Dodge, a cousin of Gladys. She took them on a tour of the Oakland area. Mr. and Mrs. Craig Burnham of Bountiful also attended the service for Craig's uncle. They drove to Mountain View. On route home they visited Mr. and Mrs. Don Carroll and family, former Bountiful residents. ..Mrs. Catherine Bednark, Mrs. Idell Shipp, Mrs. Ruby Layton, Mrs. Margaret Ledingham and Mrs. Bertha Muir were guests of Mrs. Wallace E. Hess last Saturday evening. They attended a Bicentennial Bicenten-nial musical held at the Ensign En-sign Ward in Salt Lake City. |
