Show v y HISTORY Two women in Centerville accepted the challenge almost three years ago by leaders of our state to preserve the history his-tory of our cities. RESEARCH was started, visits were made with tape recorders to older citizens in the area and finally the book entitled "The City In-Between" In-Between" was written as a direct result to preserve history his-tory from 1847-1975. Mary Ellen Smoot and Marilyn Sheriff gleaned material to bring about such chapters as. Historical Homes, Industries, Reflections, Reflec-tions, Athletic Moments, "Lund Home" for Boys, Transportation. WOMEN OF Centerville, Mary Ellen Smoot, left, and Marilyn Sheriff, right, have completed their history his-tory of Centerville, which they wrote in the bicentennial spirit. History of Education and A Master Plan for the Future, a history of Education including all PTA Presidents and Principals, Prin-cipals, City Government and Mayors. In the remainder of the book there are autobiographies of many of the original settlers of Centerville, including Brigham H. Roberts, Charles C. Rich, Thomas Ricks, John Woolley, Thomas Grover, etc. THIS IS beautifully bound with gold imprint and includes 400 pages with 240 pictures. Colleges all over the United States have confirmed its historic value by including it in their libraries. GOVERNOR Calvin L. Rampton, wrote after obtain- ing his book that it brought back many memories and the family located an only teenage picture of his father in it; as a member of the Ruby Team in Centerville. A great deal of personal effort ef-fort has gone into this compilation com-pilation and the writers are proud of the results and acceptance ac-ceptance of those interested in its values. |
