Show People Helpers: Helping Oldens Volunteering is a way to do that. It gets you out of your present environment, gives you the opportunity to meet new people, do things and learn new things. PERHAPS IT is your time to become a volunteer. If so, look over the opportunities for service and if you can find some area where you can help, give them a call. Help the senior citizens -- RSVP is looking for a lot of volunteers to help run a nutrition (food) program for senior citizens. People are needed to help set up tables and chairs, to handle food and to provide transportation to and from the centers. FOR MANY senior citizens, this is their only chance to get a balanced nutritious meal. If you would like to help please call Sid Noble at 867-2211, or call the Clearfield Center at 773-7065 or the Golden Years Center (Bountiful) at 295-3479. Get involved with youth -- Bountiful Jr. High School is starting a Resource Center for students needing academic help with schoolwork. If you would like to be -available to help these students please call Principal Lewis Gale at 292-2811. FRIENDS wanted -- The Bountiful Nursing Home needs volunteers to become friends to the women at the home. Visit them, take them for walks, be an advocate for them. Call Richard Nelson of the Davis County Volunteer Project at 292-4469 or 773-5559 and he will help you find what you are looking for. LIKE CHILDREN? -- Classroom aides and tutors are needed to work with preschool children. Call Donna Harston of the Headstart Program (Davis County School District) at 867-2291. |
