Show Well Closing Is November First State Engineer Ed. H. Watson has roclaimed the closing of wells diverting water from underground un-derground sources beginning with November 1. 194S. and ending April 1, 1949, as provided by law. All persons owning, or' having control of, any artesian or pump well, or wells., in this State are required to close, by plug. cap. valve, or other mechanical device de-vice or by repairs, all wells except ex-cept those providing water for i beneficial use. Beneficial use ; during the above -period does not include irrigation. This order or-der does not apply to wells in Flowell district of Millard county, coun-ty, or the Erda and Grantsvilie districts of Tooele county, all of which are provided for in other orders. It si also provided Thai modification of said order may : be granted upon a shwing to hte state engineer that a compliance com-pliance therewith will cause J partial or complete failure of the well. j The closing season of under-; under-; ground water has been proclaimed pro-claimed in the interest of con- serving the underground- water supply and to provide a maxi mum quantity for the . nex year's use. As a result of las" year's closing order there was made avilable during the pas season additional water which materially helped to mature crops. Strict obedience to this- closing order will further increase in-crease the supply. Disregard of the closing ordc is a misdemeanor and if necessary, nec-essary, the state engineer will bring action in the district cour' to enforce the law. |
