Show People Hopeful For Reservoir Construction Funds will be made available for Utah by the present United States congress to begin a program pro-gram of small reservoir construction construc-tion in the state, according to a statement of United Sates Senator Senat-or William H. King. Mr. King left for Washington D. C. by airplane Sunday, after conferring with State Engineer T. H. Humphreys, other state oificals and sponsors of some of the proposed pro-posed small reservoir projects. He came to Salt Lake City Friday to attend the state Democratic convention con-vention held Saturday. The Senator expressed the opinion congress would make a-vailable a-vailable funds to begin construction construc-tion of the small reservoirs and would raise the $300,000 appropriation appro-priation now budgeted for U. S. ureau of reclamation investigations investiga-tions of water projects to $900,-000 $900,-000 reclamation fund, if passed, would permit continuation of investigations in-vestigations now in progress oi. xjear, Lower Weber, Price, Virgin, San Rafeal rivers, and the Colorado Colo-rado River-Great Basin project. Governor Henry H. Blood made a plea recently before a house of representatives sub-committee on S .nterior department approbations for a $1,000,000 appropriation for .lie small reservoir program this year, and expressed hope Utah ,vould be able to get that amount annually for the next five years .o complete the mose essential projects. v Of 37 possible projects investigated investi-gated in Sanpete county, three are considered most feasilble of the group. Beaver dam, Mammoth and Gooseberry sites, all on Gooseberry creek, are under consideration. con-sideration. Gooseberry would call for construction of a dam 110 feet -ligh, costing approximately $764,-.00, $764,-.00, with storage capacity for 15,000 acre feet of water. This .roject was placed on a preferred list. Mammoth project would store 41,213 acre feet of water and calls for a dam 115 feet high, .vhile Beaver dam project, if constructed, con-structed, would have a 60 foot jam and would store 1156 acre eet of water.
