Show Wasatch Notes By Katheryn Redd Black Robes And Candlelight International Relations Club claimed 17 new members after initiation rites held Tuesday evening. Those trying out for the organization prepared three minute speeches on subjects of international importance which they delivered in a candlelight ceremony before a board of black-robed examiners headed by club president, Bob Moore, and including old members. Jobs Daughters Dance Last Saturday a dance was given by Jobs Daughters of Bethel No. 6 in the gym. Door prizes, Wasatch humpty dumpty dolls were won by Betty Hooks and Reino Eurkela. Numbers on the program were the sextette, Joanne Voorhees, Gerrie Griffin, Oceana Brandon, Jean Conway. Christine Houchen and Betty Hooks, singing "All the Things You Are"; Roger Hansen and William Burton playing a piano duet, and a dramatic reading by Marlene Franz. Refreshments of ice cream and cake were sold. Frosh Guests Class of '51 will entertain the freshmen Saturday, October 29 at a party in the gym. Apples will be provided by the junior boys picked from Pat Synder-gaard's Synder-gaard's orchard. Committee chairman are Carol McGee, decorations; dec-orations; Peggy Hall and Ann Owen, refreshments; Melvin Rawles, entertainment, and Melvin Mel-vin Sharp, clean-up. Sharp Shooters Over 20 academy deer hunters took to the open road last week-,1 week-,1 Thnto crpttincr rippr were VeLoy Adams, Kent Spencer. Charles Klein, Earl Brinkerhoff, Bill Bezyack, Paul Meyrick, John Sours, Jesse Wittmeyer. and Ralph S. Gunn. Bob Dew who traveled to Pinedale, Wyoming Wy-oming for his hunting, arrived back with an elk, moose and a deer to his credit. Endurance Flyer Visits Climaxing their vacation to Bryce and Zion National parks, Mr. and Mrs. "Woody" Jonge-ward Jonge-ward of Yuma. Ariz, last week visited the campus. Mr. Jonge-ward Jonge-ward is one of the two pilots who recently set the world endurance en-durance flying record in the plane "City of Yuma". Mrs. Jongeward (nee Bette Anderson) is an alumnus of the academy. Horrors! Plans for Halloween are being be-ing made by the student .council. .coun-cil. A dance preceded by a horror movie will be on the docket for the evening Octobei 31. Homer Ashton, student body president, is general chairman for the affair; Pete Clair in charge of clean-up; Jerry Ber-gera, Ber-gera, decorations; and Mrs. Elsie Clitheroe and John Browne, refreshments. . Two Heads, Crossed Eyes Planeria (flat worms with ears and cross eyes) have been a current interest in the biology lab. These worms were secured from a swamp near the cemetery ceme-tery by Miss Jane Barber, Don Shellbach and Bill Anderson. In connection with their study of animal phyla the biology classes at present are conducting conduct-ing an experiment to watch the planeria develop two heads. Frosh Champs Freshmen emerged undefeated by a score of 14-11 in the girls basketball championship game played Wednesday night against I the seniors. |
