Show Southern Utah Turkey Poults Given Boost Dr. J. I. Curtis, state veterinarian, veterin-arian, spent considerable time during the latter part of August and fore part of September visiting vis-iting all the turkey flocks in Washington county at the request re-quest ot the Washington County Coun-ty Turkey Breeders Association. They were all free from diseases dis-eases in this area, Dr. Curtis stated, except for a little typhoid ty-phoid in two of the flocks in the orchards where there was a lot of shade. For the past three or four years the turkeys of Washington Washing-ton county 'have been regularlj inspected and kept free from disease. As a result of this, Washington county has produced pro-duced a healthy, vigorous turkey tur-key poult that is free from contagious con-tagious and infectious disease, the veterinarian said. Dr. Curtis also stated that the Washinton County Turkey Breeders Association met recently rec-ently to consider the problem of turkey breeding and due to the fact that they are controlling controll-ing the disease condition with their own flocks, they must have inspection of other flocks coming into the county. They have had a county ordinance ord-inance passed by the county commissioners providing that potential breeders must have their flocks inspected by a deputy dep-uty state veterinarian before they leave the farm on which they originated and also carry an official health certificate showing that they are free from contagious and infectious diseases. |
