Pleasant for home this Xs xX ieek following a visit to Utah 'l hich included a trip to th: Vv juthern Utah parks and at- tendance at the 33rd annual tea of the Women's Board of Westminster West-minster college at Salt Lake city. Accompanying the Neosho women to the tea were Miss Margaret Thompson and Mrs John Sours. Mrs. Earl J. Glade, wife of Salt Lake's mayor, and Mrs. J. Bracken Lee, Utah's first lady, ! poured at the tea. The group toured the southern parks last weekend. Last Friday evening Miss Thompson was hostess at dinner to Mrs. Sours and Mrs. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. John Sours, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Wittmeyer and Miss Carol Null. Visitors From Virginia Mrs. R. M. Gibson of Arlington, Va., with her two small boys, arrived in Mt. Pleasant Saturday to spend the summer vacation with Mrs. Gibson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Draper. Mr. Gibson brought his family to Mt. Pleasant but had to return re-turn immediately to Washington, Washing-ton, D. C, where he is employed with the Department of the Army. He expects a transfer to Texas about July 1 and will return re-turn to Mt. Pleasant prior to that date. ' Last Saturday afternoon a group of ladies gathered for luncheon to celebrate the birthday birth-day of Mrs. Rose Merz at the Merz home. Those present were: Mrs. Ray Christensen, Mrs. Carol Burton, Mrs. Merlene Romero, Mrs. Bertha Anderson, Mrs. Doretha Bergstrom, Mrs. Sybil Hansen, and Mrs. Grace Smith. That evening five couples surprised sur-prised Mrs. Merz with another party. Those present in the evening were Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Whitman, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew An-drew Norman, Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Christensen and Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Pannier and daughter, Gladys Ann, of Salt Lake visited at the Boyd Hafen home over the weekend. Saturday the Panniers and the Hafens are planning to attend an alumni banquet at Carbon county high school in Price. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Norman and family spent Mother's Day with other members of their family in Salt Lake. Charles (Chic) Atkinson, new football coach at the Brigham Young University, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Scott Passey and family last Sunday. Mrs. Passey is a sister-in-law to Mr. Atkinson. Atkin-son. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Jensen spent a day last week in Manti visiting relatives. Bishop and Mrs. Anrold Stevens Stev-ens entertained at dinner Tuesday Tues-day evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hafen who will soon be moving to Cedar City. Mr. and Mrs. Ferdie ' Peterson spent the weekend in Spring ville visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Reese Anderson and family of Springville, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Larsen and family fam-ily of Salt Lake, Keith Anderson of Salt Lake, and Ross Anderson of Provo were visitors at the A H. Anderson home over the weekend. Dr. and Mrs. George D. Cope of Ephraim spent Sunday and Monday with Mr. and Mrs. J Seymour Jensen. - Mrs. W. C. Olsen and he: daughter, Mrs. J. E. Jenkins, will entertain at the Fort Douglas Golf Club in Salt Lake Friday at luncheon for Miss Katherinr Summers. . Miss Summers, whose mar riage to Bruce Goates, wi'l take place Tuesday, May 17, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Paul Summers of Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Claire M. Ald-rich Ald-rich and family and Mrs. V. E. Hedquist, Mrs. Richard Wiseman Wise-man and baby, all of Provo, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Aldrich and baby had a Mother's Day din ner at the home of Mr. and Mr? O. M. Aldrich. Mr. and Mrs. John Maxwel' and son, Camerln, spent Sunday in Salt Lake with Mrs. Maxwell's Max-well's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Olsen. The family gathering also marked Mr. Hansen's birthday. Tuesday evening Mrs. Hansen entertained a few friends in honor of her husband's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Vance of Provo, Wesley Burnside of Poca-tello, Poca-tello, and Mr. and Mrs. Milton Nelson and baby of Salt Lake spent the weekend at the Mason Burnside home. ' Home for Mother's Day weekend week-end at the home of Mrs. Sitha Burnside was Mr. and Mrs. Did: Lundberg and baby of Price, Ernest Burnside of Salt Lake. Saturday Mrs. Burnside had a visit from Mr. .and Mrs. Merlin Anderson and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Anderson of Price. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jensen of Provo and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Terry of Fairview had dinne' Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. A. E Drage. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Beck and Miss Florence Nielsen of Salt Lake were visitors at the home of Mayor and Mrs. S. M. Neilsen over the weekend. ' Mrs. Elsie Sidwell of Nephi visited with her mother, Mrs Johanna Nielsen. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Gibbs and Mrs. Herschel S. Jensen were Salt Lake visitors Friday. . . . and Points East William A. Fawcett Sr. and wife, Mary Lindquist Fawcett of Salt LaU city, are taking an extended pleasure trip, visiting Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis Washington, D. C, Philadelphia! New York City, Boston, Niagra Falls, Detroit, Chicago and Omaha, Oma-ha, bringing home a new car. Mrs. Alma Allred has returned home after spending a week in Salt Lake city and Roy, Utah. She visited in Salt Lake with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Dyson, and at Roy with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hale, and her grandson Melvin Allred, and granddaughter, Florence Flor-ence Allred. Florence has beer in bed with rheumatic fever since the first of February. Mrs. Montel Blackham and three small children returned to McGill, Nevada Sunday after visiting three months with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alma All-red. All-red. Mr. and Mrs. Alden Averett spent Mothers Day in Salt Lake with their daughter, Mrs. Ina A. Christensen. Mrs. John Stansfield is home again after a ten day stay in a Salt Lake hospital following a major operation. A son was born May 4 o Thomas and Mary Katherine Christensen Kowaldski of San Francisco. Mrs. Kowaldski is a daughter of Mrs. Hyrum Christensen Chris-tensen of this city. Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Smith visited vis-ited members of their family in Genola and Orem Sunday. A houseguest of her mother, Mrs. Alberta Merz, for the past two weeks, Mrs. Louis Bodmer of San Diego, Calif., planned to leave Mt. Pleasant for home Friday. Fri-day. Mrs. Bodmer has also been visiting with her daughter, Miss Charlene Bodmer, who is a junior jun-ior student at Brigham Young University. Mrs. Merz, Mrs. Bodmer and her daughter were together at Mt. Pleasant for Mother's Day. Mr. and Mrs. Les Peacock and their family of Sterling were weekend visitors at Mrs. Merz's .C J. Johansen received word Thursday morning that his daughter, Mrs. Stanley Browers of Las Vegas, Nevada, is improving improv-ing nicely after a recent operation opera-tion for appendicitis. Gills Hit The Road Again A quick hello and goodbye for the present, at least, was said by the Stanley Gills who returned re-turned to Mt. Pleasant this weekend after wintering at Palm Springs. But they were soon on the road again heading for Buffalo, New York, where they will attend the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Presby-terian church. Following the church meeting they will visit their son, Stanley, a student at Harvard university, and attend commencement exercises at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, at which a nephew, George Persons, Per-sons, will graduate. Before returning re-turning home hey will also visit friends in New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Mrs. Marland Zabriskie will leave Mt. Pleasant Sunday for Detroit, Mich., where she will spend a month visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Maxwell. She will be accompanied accompa-nied by her small daughter, Linda. Mr. and Mrs. Carrol Staker of Cedar City visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Ben Staker, last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. A. Murray Maughan and children of Richfield Rich-field spent the weekend, with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. V. Anderson. Saturday the Andersons Ander-sons were visited by their son, O. V. Jr., and his family of Springville. Weekend visitors at the Jewel Peterson home were Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Howell of Murray and Miss Gwen Peterson and Jay Knud-son, Knud-son, st.udents at the University of Utah. The family of Herman Beck were together Sunday. Out of town members were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Beck and family of Indianola, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Spencer and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Thorton of Provo and Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Lay of Moroni. |
