Show Nine Live Calves Will Be Given For Prizes At Junior Stock Show Through the cooperation of outstanding cattlemen of the state and the Tribune-Telegram youthful stock growers who enter en-ter the Intermountain Junior Fat Stock Show will receive nine live calves, valued at from $75.00 to $100.00 each, it was announced by Merrill Parkin, manager of the show. The calves will go to the outstanding out-standing young growers of the show, under the conditions gov erning the awards, according to Mr. Parkin. Eight calves, donated do-nated by individual growers, will be divided evenly between members of the 4-H and Future Farmer Clubs, while the Tribune-Telegram award, a permanent perm-anent fixture, will alternate each year between 4-H and Future Fu-ture Farm clubs. This year, the 4-H member gets it. In the calf competition, which is in addition to" about $5,000 in premiums and special awards, each county agent and each vocational teacher may nominate nomin-ate one from his group for the awards. Nominations will be based upon (1) worth from the standpoint of good citizenship; (2) record as a good feeder, and (3) prospects as a future breeder breed-er or feeder of cattle. Four from each club will oe named from among the candidates. To win, the individual must be an exhibitor at this show, and agree to report on the progress of the calf each 2 months, to feed it according to instructions, and to exhibit the calf at next year's show if the donor so indicates. The Tribune-Telegram award, since it gives calves at other shows, is limited to Summit, Tooele, Davis and Salt Lake counties. Its award is based upon natural interest in livestock, scholastic standing, facilities for feedinr and care, and need.
