Show Seeks Political Power , President Roosevelt's statement that this country will not recognize recog-nize the French Committee of National Liberation while most of the French people are under Nazi rule caused a convulsion a-mong a-mong DeGaulle propagandists. We hardly see an argument for recognizing the DeGaulle outfit. While we admire the General's determination not to give in to the Germans, after his nation surrendered, no stretch of the imagination can assert that his committee legally represents the French people. There are many people who think that DeGaulle is a national hero to all Frenchmen under the Nazi heel. If this is true, then, after France is liDerated, the DeGaulle De-Gaulle outfit will be elected to office and comprise the legal government of France. It appears to us that DeGaulle is more interested in political power in France than in military mili-tary operations - against Germany. Ger-many. General Giraud, on the othei- hand, is no politician, but his record as a soldier stands the test of the present crisis. With what he has, he wants to fight the Nazis and pledges to assist the United Nations in their war against Japan. |
