Show Plans For Fourth Junior ck show Gets Underway-Junior Underway-Junior stock men from Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana, Mon-tana, and Western Slope, Colorado are advised of the fourth annual Intermountain Junior Fat Stock show which will be held in North Salt Lake, June 4, 5, and 13, 1940, J. H. Manderfield, of the North Salt Lake stock yards and chairman chair-man of the 1940 show, said in announcing the coming event. This annual show is open to Future Farmers of America and 4-H club members, said Mr. Man-. dcrfield. It is sponsored by tne oalt Lake chamber of commerce . and the county commissions Of -a..t Lake and Davis counties and will otier premiums of more than .?',Ue0. Special prizes totaling up- ' wards of $500 will be added to tins list. Emphasis is on quality, not i quantity.- Only stock meeting the j strictest requirements as to flesh will be allowed to enter the ring. I A shitting committee will go over ail tne animals before show time i and those that do not measure up to specifications will be turned ' tack. I Departing from the procedure followed in previous shows and j inaugurating a change requested oy county agents, Smith-Hughes teachers, and cattle buyers, a 6rand champion of the show will not be selected this year, neither will champions in the various classes be chosen. All cattle entered enter-ed the show will be graded by the judges as either high choice, low choise, high good, or low good. Kogs and sheep will be judged pr.me, choice, or good. A complete record must be kept oy each producer as to the gains 1 made and feed costs. These records re-cords must be submitted at the time of the animal's entry to the .show. All cattle must be purchased pur-chased by January 1, 1940. Mr. Manderlield announced a new feature of the show when he .old that prizes would be given .o stock breeders for the best an-.ma;s an-.ma;s shown. This is to encourage breeders to supply junior producers pro-ducers with better stock to fit for exhibition. |
