At this convention ,were approximately approxi-mately five hundred representative (men from all parts of Suthem Utah and Nevada, who are devoting their time and ensrgy to this greal undertaking of the promotion of welfare and advancement of cur youth. A Wonderfully fine and inspirational inspira-tional program! was presented during dur-ing the banquet by the Utah National Nat-ional Parks Council of which the North Sanpete is a part, with Scout Executives A. A. Artderson and Merril Christopherson in charge. As embly was held in the College Coll-ege Hall at the Brigham Ycun? University and from there an march was made to the banquet haU, dur ing wnicn tne various delegations were singing their songs, and arousing much enthusiasm for the occa"ion. The delegations from the various districts put on stunts of different kinds, such as being dressed in d tin tive cstumes. sinking songs, etc., and our local delegation had a large carrot pinned to the coat and sang a Swedish dialect song. The main features' of the program pro-gram were first, an Indian Ceremonial Cere-monial in which1 the Districts which had attained' high merit were presented pre-sented with ai gold star and the chairman of the dstrict was initiated initi-ated as a Chief of the Gold Stat Tribe. North Sanpete District lacked a few points in reaching this honored p-nal hut the wa.v nur neonle are? now supporting th' Scout movement, move-ment, we will reach the goal next year surely. Another fine feature of great interest in-terest was the dramatization of an Auction Sale at which a boiy, representing rep-resenting American Youth was offered of-fered for sale to the highest bidder. War, Crime -and Vice were heavy bidders- for Youth, but Character rallied all the forces of Health, Re. ligion, Professions and Education and succeeded in winning the American 'Youth from opposing forces after which they turned him over to the Scoutmaster for safe keeping. Mevlin J. Ballard of the National Sceut organization spoke of master painter- and sculptors whose work lives for ages, and likened the Scoutmaster to thes? but said the impressions made by the Scoutmaster Scout-master were more important for they molded and shaped the immortal im-mortal soul. O car Kirkham related stories shewing how the Socut program builds mianhood. He admonished Scouters to work for men, money and rniembership, all of which are necessary in Scouting. The local Council members are fired with renewed desire to put North Sanpete San-pete again on the mlap in Scouting, the greate-t boy program known. |
