El-SSorth El-SSorth and Grant H Toiton I representing Beaver County; Ben Cameron, Jr. representing Garfield Gar-field County; M. D. Allred, representing repre-senting Piute County; O. C. Beau-mann, Beau-mann, representing Kane County; N J Henderson, representing Garfield' Gar-field' County; J. Frank Kilhan and A D Kellar, representing Emery ' County; E. C. Pectol, representing i Wayne County; Joseph Shurtzand i Samuel PoUock representing Garfield Gar-field County. ' Frank Martines of Richfield acted act-ed as chairman of the delegation and presented a program consisting consist-ing first of the completion of route 89 from Tanner's ranch in Thistle valley to Thistle Junction. Second , nnmniBHnn of the Salina Can yon route and third the oiling of the Gunnison-Levan road. These projects were urged upon the commission com-mission not only for the great commercial benefits to use the southern part of the state, but also al-so to help solve the employment situation. '' The delegation was very favor -f ably received by the state road "' commission who thanked them for - the information and support of the southern part of the state. It was agreed that route 89 is a very im-l: im-l: portent highway to the state and : it was hoped to have a concrete program worked out with the fed- eral government in the very neai " future. . There are three organizations to f) be considered in the road work of J, the state, namely, the Bureau of Federal Roads, The Forest Department De-partment and the State Road Com- mission. 0 As soon as -the allocations ' of 1 federal funds are made the State I Road Commission informed the J delegation that another meeting ! would be held and Frank Martines, pi A. D. Kellar and a representative F of Salina was invited to meet with them again possibly in less than 30 days to ascertain the exact al-e al-e location of federal funds when it II would be determined just what the to? whole program would be. b The part of route 89 from Tan- ! ner's ranch to the R. R. spur at I ! the Marble quarry has already re-Jg re-Jg ceived favorable consideration. The delegation was very much j encouraged with the reception and I response of the state road com-mission com-mission to their road program for the southern part of the state. The people of Sanpete County i should feel very grateful for the j efforts put forth by the civic clubs of Southern Utah for their untiring un-tiring efforts in behalf of route 89 This project has been the leading and major project uppei-most in the minds of the civic club members mem-bers of this part of the state for 1 the past two years. |
