Show Sanpete Crop of Poults Set At 100,000 The Third Annual Turkey Growers Grow-ers convention was br:ld in Salt Lake City, January 21at la the Newhuuse Hotel. Turkey growers from all over the state met at this convention to rnar a report of the year's activity, to reelect officers for 1935, and to hear a report of the crop outlook for the cctning year. Joseph H. Thompson of Ephraim, was reelected President of the organization, or-ganization, Arvil Scott of Charleston was raeleeted vice president and K. Jensen of Manti was reelected Secretary Sec-retary and treasurer. A. W. Willardson of Lcs Angeles, Manager of the Pacific Coast Sales, Herbert Beyers, General Manager of the Northwestern Turkey Growers Association and Chas. P. Rudd, Manager of the Utah Poultry Producers Pro-ducers Cocp. Association and W. H. Warner, representative: of the Poehl-mann Poehl-mann Hatchery, were speakers at the convention. Largest frerzer holdings in history, his-tory, with estimated thirty per cent increase in hatched penults, were important im-portant factors that might adversely affect the 1935 and 36 marketing seasons. Increased consumption at high prices of sterage birds and anticipated an-ticipated lower priced feeds during the greater part of the growing period peri-od balanced the picture, and it was generally thought that a favorable marketing outlook would result. Sanpete county, from all present indications, will produce the largest volume of turkeys in its history, and by far the largest percentage in the Stat? of Utah. More than 100,000 poults will be brooded in the county this spring. |
