Jackson, forme-erly forme-erly District Inspector fo the Fort Douglas District arrived Monday, Mon-day, August 23rd taking charge of company 4780 as commanding officer, offi-cer, relieving Captain T. W. Gali-gher, Gali-gher, who left Wednesday, August 24th. for Chicago, where he will continue work as an engineer in the air conditioning field. A scrappy baseball game, Sunday, Sun-day, August 22nd between the Gun-nion Gun-nion and Mt. Pleasant teams ended end-ed with a score of 4 to 6 in favor of the home team. The first inning inn-ing was a cinch for the Gunnison team when they ran in three scores, but the Mt. Pleasant nine came back strong in the game scoring a total of six points. Leon Gunderson, hurler for Mt. Pleasant, Pleas-ant, was injured when he attempted attemp-ted to pick up a hit ball between heme plate and first, the batter making a run for the base connecting con-necting both players, ending in a tumble. Freemont Draper took the pitcher's box and held the game to the final score. Paul Hance as catcher, played an excellent game in spite of the fact that his arm was injured in the early part of the game. D. S. Craig, Erosion Control; G. W. Thatcher, Agroniimst; Paul L. Walton, Agricultural Engineer, and J.seph Howell, Forester, all of Salt Lake City, were visitors at this camp Thursday, August 19th. Alma V. Sacket, caterpillar instructor, in-structor, and H. K. LeSuer, mechanic, me-chanic, both from Salt Lake City, arrived here Tuesday, August 24th, administering service to the Technical Tech-nical Department. An excellent program was given at the Company's recreational hall Sunday, August 22nd by three singers and a pianist who were brought here by Chaplain Curtis. The program was attended by all enrollees in Camp who enjoyed the good music given by the entertainers. |
