Show George Brand 5 Passes Away - reorge W. Brand, 73, prominent !.v tractor and builder cf Mount 7 feasant, passed away suddenly Monday at about 6:30 p. m. fol- 1 He was 1X5111 Februry 22- 1864 ,t cinclnatti, Ohio, the son of wuis and Adeline Walters Brand, s nTwas educated In the schools r. Indiana, and had been a rests' rest-s' Int of Utah since 1888, arriving n here when a young man of twenty-:- m years. His first work in Utah it on the Ogden Union depot, e r. 1891 he came to Mt. Pleasant s. ,n finished the eld Wasatch ;- Academy. d Mr. Brand was widely known s here. having constructed many public buildings and residences s since Jie came here. He was a member of the Presby- t telian church, a charter member !na past president of Ivy chapter No 10, O. E. S., and a past master of Damascus lodge No. 10, A F. & 51. He also was an Odd Fellow and a member of Woodmen of the World. He has served as a -member of the city council. On July 6, 1893 he married Miss Emma Bjelke at Manti. He was the father of fcur children, two sons having preceded him in death. Surviving besides his widow, wi-dow, Mrs. Emma Brand, are two daughters, Mrs. Adeline B. Otte of Littleton, Colorado, and Mrs. Estelle B. Andersen, of Mt. Pleasant; Pleas-ant; six grandchildren, a brother, Walter Brand, and a sister, Mrs. Gilbert Wallston of Hillsboro, Indiana. In-diana. Funeral serices were conducted at 2 p. m. Thursday from the First Prebyterian Church with Rev. N. R. Smith of Scda Springs. Idaho, officiating. The invocation was given giv-en by Rev. Gray Dashen; a vocal solo "End of a Perfect Day" was by Mrs. Grant Olsen, accompanied by Mrs. Opal Scovil; a violin selection se-lection was played by Henry de-Googer, de-Googer, accompanied by Mrs. R. S. ;Gunn; a vocal solo, ',Jesus Is Calling" Call-ing" was sung by Dr. J. E. Otte. The speakers were Rev. N. R. Smith and Bishop Henry P. Olsen. Rev. Smith offered the benediction. Interment was in the family plot in the city cemetery under direction direc-tion cf Jacobs Mortuary. Rev. Smith dedicated the grave. Honorary pallbearers were: J. E Meyrick, Charles Jacobsen, E. W. Wall, Bert Wright, T. Jones and Henry Wall. Active pallbearers were Donald Carter, Glen Williams, J. D. Meyrick, Mey-rick, Jr., John Hasler, Vern Gun-derson Gun-derson and O M. Oldroyd. |
