Show COOPERATION WILL SOLVE THE POST-WAR PROBLEMS ' Plan No. 2 ' ' Another plan which we believe will solve post-war unemployment unem-ployment is CONSUMER COOPERATION The Rochdale Plan. It has a program which substitutes employment for unemployment, un-employment, peace for violence, construction for destruction, evolution for revolution. It means peace and order, class and 'ace friendships, plenty in place of want, democracy instead of dictatorship, lower cost of living, wealth and power in tne . wnds of the people. This plan has now proved itself over a - Period of 100 years. If applied to all the economic needs ol the people it will do much toward making the perfect society. Cooperation has, according to the president of the Agritful- I 'ural college, given the Scandinavian countries the best pre-i pre-i ar civilization in the world. It will do as much for other I countries. - . 1 Among the more important principles are (1) open voiun- t"y membership regardless of sex, race, creed, or Plltlcal ; affiliations and includes the right of voluntary withdrawal without loss of capital contribution if enterprise be solvent (2) democratic control, usually expressed in the words one "fan, one vote, no more"; (3) limited returns to capital on fte theory that capital is "hired"; (4) savings resulting from Joint effort apportioned according to the participation ol tne "'operators; and (5) neutrality in matters extraneous to a co- ' operative economy. , , , . .
