Show Shields Chosen As Crew Leader for Explorer Expedition Glen S. Shields, local scouter and prominent Pleasant Grove businessman, busi-nessman, has been ohosen Crew Leader for the George Albert Smith Memorial Expedition through April 25 to May 4. "Members of the expedition will hike through some of the most beautiful and primitive country in the world," Mr. Shields said. The area to be traversed is replete with natural bridges, arches, Indian l-uins, beautiful canyons and rich oil and uranium territory. The natural scenery will also provide a view of the confluence of the Colorado and Green Rivers. In most of this area there are no roads and few trails, Mr. Shields stated. The expedition will be composed of 83 Explorers and 17 adult leaders. lead-ers. Three Explorers from Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove may be eligible for the trek, by meeting the requirements of full uniform, physical fitness for 50 miles of hiking, certain camping camp-ing and scouting skills and permission per-mission to leave school for 5 days. Cost of the entire expedition, including in-cluding food, insurance, transportation transpor-tation and neckerchief will be only $27.50. This will not include personal per-sonal gear. Explorers interested, should make application immediately to their institutional representative, and the first there with .their money mon-ey who can meet the requirements will be chosen. |
