Show Local News Mr. and Mrs. William C. Smith and Mrs. Alma Walser spent Monday Mon-day in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Smith spent the forenoon at the Genealogical Library and they, as did Mrs. Walser, attended a session at the LDS temple. On Saturday, March 12, Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Call of Salt Lake City entertained at a dinner for Elder James W. Walker, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Walker and family, fam-ily, and his grandmother,, Mrs. Mary Wright. Mr. and Mrs. J. Howard Nelson left Tuesday for New York City by air. They plan on spending a week in New York City on business busi-ness and pleasure and two or three days in Canada. They will return by way of Detroit and pick up a new car. Mr. and Mrs. George W. Larson Lar-son have returned from a very enjoyable trip to Texas and thru Mexico. Mr. and Mrs. Larson visited vis-ited Carlsbad Caverns and other places enroute, drove to San Antonio, An-tonio, Texas, where they joined a guided 12-day tour through Mexico and Mexico City and other wonders won-ders along the way. Picking up their car at San Antonio they returned re-turned home by way of Arizona, visiting Mesa and the LDS temple tem-ple there. They also stopped at Las Vegas and visited some of the bright spots there. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Larson and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Houston of Alpine were co-hosts at a buffet dinner at the Larson home on Friday Fri-day evening. The affair complimented compli-mented the faculty of the Alpine School and their partners. Following Follow-ing dinner, competitive games were enjoyed with Mrs. Frank Bateman winning the ladies prize and her husband the gentlemen's. Those present were Miss Leah Lloyd, Mrs. Harold Nelson, and the school cooks and their partners, part-ners, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Carlisle, and Mrs. Frank Bateman, and the hosts and hostesses. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Armitstead and Mrs. Nita Nelson returned last weekend from a most enjoyable trip to California and Mexico. They visited Mrs. Armitstead's sister, Edith Miller and family at Riverside, River-side, and also her brother, George W. Lind and family. They also visited vis-ited Mrs. Nelson's brother Hoyt Allred and family. They spent a day at Long Beach and time at other places and after visiting relatives rel-atives at San Diego they drove to Tiajuana, Mexico and saw the sights there. They drove home by way of St. George and Zions Canyon, Can-yon, having had a very nice vacation. |
