Show Vikings Hold Second Place In League Race Carrying out the old adage, "Chariety Begins at Home," the Pleasant Grove Vikings staged another squeek-by last Friday night in the local gym. The American Ameri-can Fork Cavemen were the ultimate ulti-mate victims after a 53 to1 47 conflict; con-flict; which was a hair-raiser during the waning minutes of the game. The first quarter was a give and take affair, ending with the Crumpmen on top 13 to 10. . In the second frame, the local boys really unlimbered their shoot-in' shoot-in' irons and banged them in from all angles. The half ended with the Battle Creek Boys ahead by 14 points. Half-time score P.G. 27 and A. F. 13. After the 10-minute rest period, the Cavemen came to life, and with J. With the opening of the last quarter, the Forkers picked up where they left off and really made a game of it. In fact with but a minute to go, only 3 points separated the two teams. The Vikings Vi-kings rallied however and the game ended 53 to 47 for the home team. This is the first time for many years that Pleasant Grove has beaten American Fork twice during dur-ing the season; and could well be a turn for the better in local basketball bas-ketball fortune. Tuesday night's win gives the Vikings undisputed possession of second place in Alpine Division ratings, and sets up tonight's game at Lehi as a natural. Needless to say a spirited contest is on tap for all fortunate enough to have reserrved seats. |
