Show Red Cross Sunday Set for March 16 In Utah County March 16 will be "Red Cross Sunday" throughout Utah County as th? local American Red Cross Chapter st:ps up its month-long fund campaign with a house-to-house canvass, according to Jerry Belliston, Pleasant Grove drive chairman. Utah County Red Cross Chapter chairman Dr. C. E. Hyatt said the mercy organization has set a goal of 31,000 for the county's 1958 fund campaign. The mon:y is needed to carry on local services of the Red Cross, which last year made an impressive impres-sive record of aid to Utah Coun-! Coun-! y residents. According to Miss Roberta Mor-i Mor-i isoy, county Red Cross director, the chapter trained more than 325 persons in first aid skills. Another 777 persons received Red Cross swimming and water safety instruction. The chapter made more than 38-1 home service calls, including assistance as-sistance to servicemen's families and veterans. Some 200 youngsters and adults in the county received the blood fraction gamma globulin to supplement supple-ment this disease-fighting element in their own blood. The chapter will attempt to contact con-tact each of the 23,700 homes as well as the businesses and industries indus-tries in the county. "If we fail to contact you, however, how-ever, please get in touch with your local Red Cross chairman and join and serve," Dr. Hyatt emphasized. em-phasized. Mr. Belliston reported that in 1957 some 22 persons received Red Cross water safety instruction and two first aid Instructors were trained. In addition the county chapter gave 14 home service assistance to seu-vicemen and their families and to veterans. Three Pleasant Grove youngsters regularly received Red Cross gamma gam-ma globulin, two of them in one family. |
