With the score ahrad for Union with two minutes to go Jerry Peterson Peter-son tied it at 38-38. In the remaining re-maining two minutes Union pulled ahead to win 42-40. The loss throws the Vikings into the consolation bracket. In today's game they are slated to meet Wasatch -at 7:40 p.m. Making it eight in a row in 1958 Region VII play,, Don Crump's Viking basketball team swamped an under-manned and under-coached BY High Team 84 to 50. The game was played in the PGHS gym last Friday night. The local score, which was no doubt the highest inn by the Vikes this year, could easily have been nin into three figures, had Coach Don Crump left the fire hoses in the game throughout. As it was, the bench-men took over with six minutes still showing on the clock. The game, which was played largely for fun, since the Battle Creeks Boys had already sewed up the Region VII championship one week previously, was two one-sided to be interesting. The only item of interest was how high the final score would run. Jerry "the Camel" Peterson, was high for the evening with 21 points and Kay Giles, Dennis Chorniak, and Glen Hales hit for 19, 14, and 13, respectively. Nelson was best |
