Show Beautifully Arranged Reception Honors Young Newly Weds The First Ward L. D. S. Chapel was the scene of a beautifully arranged ar-ranged wedding and reception on Friday evening, July 27, when Dona La Rue McCandless, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Duane McCandless Mc-Candless of Salt Lake City, became be-came the wife of Udell Westover of this city. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elden Westover. With Bishop Ertman Christensen Christen-sen officating, the young couple repeated marriage vows, in front of the large satin draped window where a tall basket of pink glad-oli glad-oli flanked by lighted candlebra, added charm and romance to the occasion. The attractive bride was gowned gown-ed in imported ivory Chinchilly lace, fashioned with a long sweeping sweep-ing train. Her finger tip veil of sheer illusion and lace fell from a a halo shaped bonnet of lace. She carried a large lavender orchid nestled in pink roses. She was attended by Mrs. Lorraine Lor-raine McGee, matron of honor, hon-or, attending matrons, Mrs. August Aug-ust Weichmann of Denver, and Mrs. Chris Hrienson; and brides maids Miss Sidney Young, and Miss Dixie West, all wearing lovely lov-ely pastel formals and carrying fanshaped bouquets of silk net and feathered carnations. Jack Westover assumed the duties of best man for his brother. These with the parents of both young people formed the bridal party. Mrs. McCandless wore a long gown of blue chiffon and lace, while Mrs. Westover chose dusty rose crepe, wiht harmonizing corsages. cor-sages. Mrs. Gene McCandless, with her husband, welcomed guests at the door ,wore black with metallic blue top and pinned on pink carnations. car-nations. Miss Elaine Olpin handled the guest book and ushers were Dennis Den-nis Payne, Calvin Baxter, LaVell Edwards and Berdeen Jarman. At 8:30 o'clock Mr. and Mrs. McCandless entertained at a reception re-ception in the recreation hall, honoring hon-oring the just weds, who with their party received friends and relatives in the same charming atmosphere. At the break up of the reception recept-ion line, Cliff Hales introduced the program numbers: Two vocal solos "Through The Years" and "Thine Alone" by Warren Kirk, accompanied by Mrs. Kirk; piano duet, Roberta Stevens and LaRue Stevenson. Toast to the bride was offered by Miss Estelle Fenton, and Harold Cook of Clearfield, toasted the groom. Dancing completed the evening's festivities. Refreshments were served in the Relief Society room where the table, covered with cut-work cut-work Irish Linen was centered with a gorgeous wedding cake flanked by lighted pink candles. Charming young ladies who served ser-ved were Pauline McCandless, Roberta Stevens, Evalyn Cook, Mary Lue Jensen. The display of beautiful gifts was arranged by Mrs. Marjorie Wadley, Mrs. Nida Nelson, Mrs. Elaine Jensen, and Mrs. Merle Mc-Causland. Mc-Causland. Receiving gifts at the door were Sharon Frank, Jimmy McCandless, Mc-Candless, Larry McCandless, Keith Westover, George Stevens. Following a short honeymoon trip to Jackson, Wyoming, the young uple are at home in the H. W. Jacobs apartment on 2nd South Street. |
