Show Native of PL Grove To Be Buried Here Oscar Lycortas Winters, 87, died Monday at 8:45 p.m. in a Logan hospital after a two-week illness. He was bom Spet. 9, 1864, in Pleasant Grove, a son of Oscar and Mary Ann Sterns Winters. He was reared here and attended the old Brigham Young Academy. He married Florence Ella Smith Sept. 10, 1890, in the Manti LDS Temple. They made their home in Ogderi until 1907, when they moved to Garland. Three years later they returned to Ogden for a short time, then returned to Garland where they had made their home since. He was a high priest in Bear River LDS Stake, had served as superintendent of Sunday School a number of years and was a teacher in Garland Ward. He was mayor of Garland one term and served two terms on the city council. He is survived by his widow, five sons and daughters, Mrs. R. J. (Nina) Styner, Elwood G. Winters Win-ters and N. Blaine Winters, all of Salt Lake City; Czar S. Winters, Wint-ers, San Francisco, and Mrs. Wendell Wen-dell (Rhea) Budge, Logan; 15 grandchildren and seven great grand children. Funeral services will be conducted con-ducted Friday noon in Garland Second LDS Ward Chapel by Duane Archibald bishop. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. |
