Show High School Library Has 2850 Books On All Subjects The school library at Pleasant, Grove High School compares favorably fav-orably with the recommendations of the North western Library Association, As-sociation, and the State Depart-Mrs. Depart-Mrs. Walker said that at pre-ment pre-ment of Education, a breakdown by Mrs. Josie G. Walker, librarian, librar-ian, showed Wednesday. Mrs. Walker said that at present pre-sent there are 2850 books of all types and classes in the school library, one hundred more than a year ago. In addition the school library subscribes of 25 state and national weekly and monthly magazines mag-azines from which students may get supplementary material for their classes. Of the 2850 books now catalog- I ued 1295 are of the best fiction. ! "Many fiction editions are books to meet the avid perusal of stu- I dents in the junior high school," , I Mrs. Walker said. I A breakdown of the books in the library shows: General works, 115; philosophy, 31; religion, 33; social science, 187; languages, 13; science, 113; useful arts, 108; fine arts, 104; literature, 328; history, 432; fiction, fic-tion, 1295. Many of the text books that have been outmooded have been replaced with the last factual , material which has been proven j in the immediate past. We try to J keep the library as up-to-date as 1 possible, so that the students may be abreast of the times, Mrs. Walker said. She also stated that the 100 books purchased this year was not as many as formerly, "but that the money from the budget will be used to install a new lighting light-ing system, which is badly needed in the library." |
