Show Sewer Survey To Be Conducted Emil J. Cances, President of the Pleasant Grove Junior Chamber of Commerce, has indicated that the Jaycees and Gems will undertake to canvas the city for the sentiment senti-ment of the citizens toward the City Council proceeding- at once to take the necessary steps to construct con-struct a sanitary sewer collection system and sewage treatment plant for Pleasant Grove City. From the results of the survey, the Jaycees hope to advise the City Fathers how best to proceed. At the regular meeting- held Wed. night at the Alpine Grille, the Jaycees and their partners listened to A. H. Sorensen, of the engineering- firm of Caldwell, Richards. and Sorensen. of Salt Lake City, who outlined the need of a sewer sew-er system, the functions of a sewer sew-er system and the various proposals propos-als that should be studied by the City Council and the citizens in the program of constructing a sanitary san-itary sewer system. Basically, Mr. Sorensen explainer, explain-er, a sanitary sewer system might be broken up into three main parts-the parts-the sewage treatment plant the main trunk outfall line, and the collection lines in each street onto on-to which the homes and business houses are connected. The sewage treatment plant and the main trunk outfall lines serve every home or business establishment which is connected to the sewer He indicatd that it would seem fair, then, for every piece of taxable tax-able property within the city to pay a proportionate share of the cost of the trunk outfall lines and the disposal plant, and let the individual in-dividual property owner alone- each street pay for the collection line in front of his place when it is installed and he has the use of it. It is generally recognized that Pleasant Grove must, with other neighboring cities, protect its health and construct a sewer system. sys-tem. There is a definite need to have the citizens express themselves them-selves on how the system shall be paid for and what area should be initially sewered. The Jaycees and their wives have undertaken to distribute a questionnaire postcard to each home and business house in PImh- ant Grove. Each home owner or citizen is resuested to answer the questions on the postcard and mail it promptly, so the thinking of the people may be transmitted to the City Council. The three questions to be asked are: 1. Would you vote for a property proper-ty tax bond not to exceed $125,000 for trunk line and treatment plant? Yes No 2. Would you vote for revenue bonds to construct collection lines in the area bounded by First West Fourth North, Third East, and U.S. Highway 91 provided the bonds are repaid solely by the users within this area? Yes No 3. Would you favor extending collection lines to include your residence res-idence provided the cost can be defrayed by a $100 connection fee and a service charge not in excess ex-cess of $3.00 per month. Yes No " Every citizen is urged to cooperate. co-operate. No names or signatures are required, and no one will know who answered the questions or how they answered them. |
