Show Pleasant Grove Needs Housing Expert States Pleasant Grove's greatest need today is good low-cost housing in order to take care of the growth of this area, according to J. O. Dillon, industrial relations director of the Geneva Steel Co., guest speaker at the business meeting of the local Lions Club meeting on Wednesday evening. Employees of the Geneva Steel Co., who are on an hourly -wage cannot afford expensive homes, but many of them are looking for better bet-ter places to live. Mr. Dillon outlined in avery capable cap-able manner the present status of the employees at tKe Geneva Steel Co. plant and stated in a large measure a very desirable condition exists, because the employee owns his own home and enoueh land to have a garden, chickens and cow. which furnish a part of the fam-iliy fam-iliy living. The need for homes in Utah county is increasing as other industries in-dustries come in to the area, and as laborers are needed for conversion convers-ion at the plant, this increased the need for homes. A letter from the Pleasant Grove City officials, asking for the club's cooperation in the putting over of a number of worth-while projects was read by President Junius A. West. Mayor Harvey E. Smith, a guest ' of the club, asked personally the cooperation of the club members in the development of projects in Pleasant Grove. Other business matters were taken ta-ken care of by the club. |
